Job Summary
Under general direction from the regional QHSE Advisor and QHSE Manager, the Rig Safety Advisor provides Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) support for all personnel on board the installation. The Rig Safety Advisor also advises the Offshore Installation Manager (OIM) and department heads in the implementation of the company management system and HSE programs.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Consults with regional QHSE Advisors for guidance in the implementation and facilitation of HSE processes and initiatives.
  • Monitors and coaches the application of the Company's Safe Systems of Work (SSoW).
  • Initiates, promotes, and implements installation-level activities to improve HSE performance.
  • Drives installation-level identification and monitoring of critical controls.
  • Manages HSE administrative processes and programs.
  • Coordinates scheduling of training per the company training matrix requirements.
  • Conducts HSE training and facilitates onboard training courses as well as help facilitate emergency drills.
  • Assists with orientation for arriving personnel and welcome onboard briefings.
  • Engages, administers, and monitors the Competency Assurance Management System.
  • Prepares HSE reports required by the company and assists with reports required by customers and regulatory bodies.
  • Performs rig inspections to ensure safe conditions and checks of HSE equipment for state of readiness.
  • Leads the implementation and data collection input of the company behavior-based safety program.
  • Assists OIM in the preparation and delivery of the weekly safety meeting and pre-tour briefings.

Qualifications / Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required or equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of HSE experience.
  • NEBOSH or CSP certification preferred.

Skills & Experience
  • Available to travel to remote locations as the employer determines is necessary to meet business needs.
  • Physically able to be transported to an offshore rig by boat or helicopter, and capable of performing emergency procedures, such as evacuations and fire drills.
  • Capable of working in a confined marine environment.
  • Able and willing to conduct inspections throughout the rig environment inclusive of areas of heights.
  • Good interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively, excellent teamwork and organizational skills.
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills and able to diplomatically manage confrontation.
  • Committed to high HSE standard, and willing and able to comply with all applicable laws and company policies and procedures, as well as willing to report safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel.
  • Good computer skills and able to use MS Office suites.
