Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Bridge Inspection Team Leader to be based out of our office in Boston, MA.
The responsibilities of this position include, but may not be limited to, the following:
  • Performs field inspections according to requirements of MassDOT, MBTA, and RIDOT, as well as the FHWA NBIS and NTIS as applicable.
  • Supervises Team Members as well as access and equipment vendors.
  • Work at heights, on ladders, on scaffolding and on aerial lifts, or other bridge inspection access equipment.
  • Work in confined spaces, work adjacent to live traffic, work in or around water and work under adverse weather conditions.
  • Work overnight as required, including work within railroad right-of-way.
  • Prepares inspection reports, which may include developing sketches, calculating NBE/NTE total and defect quantities, and determining preliminary construction cost estimates for repairs and maintenance.
  • Performs quality control reviews of work developed by others.
  • Additional tasks may include preparing bridge load rating calculations and reports using various analysis software, repair/rehabilitation plan and specification development, construction cost estimates, and construction phase services such as submittal review and field observations

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • BA/BS plus 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Currently qualified as a National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) and/or National Tunnel Inspection Standards (NTIS) Team Leader, which includes completing NHI Safety Inspection of In-Services Bridges, NHI Tunnel Safety Inspection, and associated refresher trainings as applicable.
  • Valid Driver's License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering is preferred
  • Experience should include 4 years of bridge inspections
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) License in the State of Massachusetts
  • Experience with MassDOT, MBTA, and RIDOT Bridge Inspection
  • Experience with MassDOT and MBTA Tunnel Inspection
  • Additional NHI training (i.e. Fracture Critical/NSTM, Ancillary Structures)
  • ANSI 92.24/92.22 Mobile Elevated Work Platforms/Snooper Training
  • Previous Fall Protection and Confined Space Training
  • Previous MBTA, Keolis, and/or Amtrak Contractor Right of Way Training
  • Bridge load rating experience
  • Bridge and tunnel repair experience
  • Familiar with MassDOT 4D Database and AASHTOware BrM database

Additional Information
  • This position requires some field work and therefore must be capable of traversing steep embankments, working within confined spaces, working at heights, and working around active traffic
  • Must be capable of lifting/carrying equipment that may weigh up to 50 lbs.
  • Work schedule will include overnight project work and subsequently a varying weekly schedule, depending upon nightly scheduled work.
  • Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.
  • Relocation is not available
