Job description

Accounts Payable Specialist (Temporary)

Location: Providence, RI
Schedule: 35 hours per week, Monday–Friday
Pay: $35.00–$40.00 per hour
Job Type: Temporary

Join Our Team!

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to support a busy finance team with contract administration, accounts payable processing, and Workday transactions. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment while contributing to important projects that support Rhode Island's youth and families.

Responsibilities

  • Create requisitions and purchase orders in Workday for new contracts.
  • Process contract amendments and change order requests.
  • Review and approve tuition, travel, and out-of-pocket reimbursement requests.
  • Process payments for higher education expenses for eligible youth.
  • Process CERFs and requisitions for invoices related to services and goods.
  • Submit purchase orders for payment.
  • Assist with work stabilization projects for residential facilities.
  • Support special projects and perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience

  • Experience preparing and processing accounts payable in a government agency or private business environment; or
  • Experience performing specialized accounts payable functions.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using Workday financial software.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

Compensation & Schedule

  • $35.00–$40.00 per hour, based on experience.
  • 35-hour work week
  • Monday through Friday
  • Temporary assignment with immediate opportunity to make an impact.
