Responsibilities

Identifies malignant and benign cases across the Northside Hospital System for the oncology registries in accordance to standards of the Cancer Committee, Georgia Center for Cancer Statistics, SEER, American College of Surgeons and other accrediting bodies across all Northside facilities. Conducts patient follow-up and adheres to current reportability standards. Abstracts concurrent cases with limited information. Performs functions related to data collection of Commission on Cancer metrics.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • High school diploma, GED or completion of post-secondary education.
  • Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) credential and/or (formerly known as) Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) credential from the National Cancer Registrars Association (NCRA)
  • One (1) Year experience in cancer registry field or similar area.
  • Experience using Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • PREFERRED

  • B.S. degree in Health Sciences, Health Information Management, or related discipline.
  • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or other similar certification.
  • Experience using computer database systems.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Work Hours:8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Weekend Requirements:NoEmployment Type: FULL_TIME
