Job description

DESE Research, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and skilled RF / Telemetry Systems Engineer to support the design, integration, testing, and fielding of telemetry and radio frequency (RF) systems supporting Department of Defense platforms. This position will play a key role in the development of a technology-refreshed mobile system used to perform pre-flight checks and verify telemetry data for military aircraft and weapon system platforms.

The successful candidate will lead RF architecture development, telemetry receiver integration, waveform and antenna optimization, and system-level testing activities. This role requires collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams, customers, and program stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of mission-critical capabilities. A successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise in RF and telemetry systems, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline from an accredited university
  • Five (5) or more years of relevant professional experience
  • Experience with RF signal processing, military communications systems, telemetry systems, or related RF technologies
  • Hands-on experience with telemetry systems and telemetry data standards, including RCC IRIG-106
  • Proficiency using RF test equipment including Spectrum Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, and Network Analyzers
  • Experience integrating hardware systems in mobile or SWaP-constrained environments
  • Ability to generate, interpret, and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and interconnect drawings
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and technical writing skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, technicians, program managers, customers, and other stakeholders
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic development environment
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience supporting military aircraft, weapon system telemetry, or test and evaluation environments
  • Familiarity with secure communications equipment and secure data storage solutions
  • Experience supporting rapid prototyping, system integration, and fielding efforts within Department of Defense programs
  • Experience integrating telemetry receivers, encryption devices, and associated RF subsystems
  • Familiarity with RF waveform implementation and antenna integration
  • Experience performing EMI/EMC testing, RF troubleshooting, and system certification activities

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and integration of RF architectures required to capture, receive, and decode telemetry and PCM data streams
  • Integrate telemetry receivers, secure communications equipment, and supporting RF hardware into mobile system platforms
  • Select, evaluate, and integrate antenna solutions optimized for mission-specific waveform requirements
  • Perform RF testing, signal verification, troubleshooting, and performance analysis using industry-standard RF test equipment
  • Ensure telemetry subsystem compliance with RCC IRIG-106 standards and applicable government requirements
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including as-built drawings, wiring diagrams, interconnect schematics, and design packages
  • Analyze and manage system-level size, weight, power, and mobility constraints to ensure operational effectiveness
  • Support system integration, verification, validation, and acceptance testing activities
  • Collaborate with project managers, cybersecurity personnel, mechanical engineers, technicians, testers, and customers to develop and implement technical solutions
  • Communicate technical designs, status updates, risks, issues, and recommendations to program leadership and customers
  • Support fielding, sustainment, and modernization efforts for deployed telemetry and RF systems
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practices across the organization
