About the Role:
Technical Writers use project management and communication skills to create, update, and publish a variety of technical documentation used across the organization in order to help ensure policies, procedures, and best practices are understood and followed.

  • Develop, write, and revise a variety of technical specification materials, including policies, procedures, forms, quick-reference guides, webpages, and articles, in either print or electronic form
  • Manage materials produced, providing regular updates to stakeholders on the status
  • Develop and maintain a tracking system
  • Work with key departments throughout the organization to ensure messaging is accurate with Bank and industry rules, regulations, and trends
  • Drive continuous process improvements to discover efficiencies and make recommendations to improve standards
  • Keep current with technology trends as they relate support documentation
  • Evaluate and suggest enhancements to gain efficiency
  • Act as a resource for documents produced by others to maintain consistency and accuracy
  • Other responsibilities as assigned
  • Demonstrates compliance with all bank regulations for assigned job function and applies to designated job responsibilities - knowledge may be gained through coursework and on-the-job training. Keeps up to date on regulation changes.
  • Follows all Bank policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and completes all required annual or job-specific training.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of Bank's written policies and procedures regarding Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Security and other regulations as applicable to this job description.
  • May be asked to coach, mentor, or train others and teach coursework as subject matter expert.
  • Actively learns, demonstrates, and fosters the Columbia corporate culture in all actions and words.

About You:

  • Project management, editing, and technical writing experience (Required)
  • Note How many years - Some experience with desktop publishing software (Preferred)
  • Some experience with web design/HTML editing software (Preferred)
  • Some experience in creating forms with form fields, including the use of Acrobat, JavaScript, or similar programming languages (Preferred)
  • Financial industry experience in both lending and deposits (Preferred)
  • Ability to create or revise technical/support documentation with multiple stakeholders and subject matter experts providing input
  • Ability to manage time and prioritize workloads to ensure that projects are delivered on time and meet or exceed expectations
  • Ability to take initiative on a given task or project and persist with it to completion
  • Experience in document formatting, reviewing, editing, and proofreading
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Experience in and ability to understand and communicate within a technical or specialized subject matter, particularly as it pertains to bank systems and the banking industry
  • Strong communication skills in a variety of different communication modes (verbal, non-verbal, and written) and at all levels of the organization

The pay range for this role is $22.70- $30.00.

The pay rate for the selected candidate is dependent upon a variety of non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, education, and geographic location. The role may be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, and those details will be provided during the recruitment process.
