Job Title: Procedure Writer


Duration: 12 Months


Location: Onsite โ€“ Oak Ridge, TN


Short Summary about Job:

Procedure Writers develop new, revised, or modified technical procedures that enable personnel to safely and correctly perform tasks associated with dimensional inspection, material testing, metrology, procurement, radiography, and weld inspection. The Writer is responsible for complying with the Technical Procedure Process and the Technical Procedure Authoring Tool (TPAT), and will occasionally develop or revise administrative procedures in accordance with the Administrative Management Requirements Process and the Administrative Procedure Authoring Tool (APAT). The Writer is also responsible for developing Enterprise procedures. Writers coordinate procedure reviews and comment resolution, implement hazard controls, capture quality and performance data, and ensure procedures can be performed as written through verification and validation.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree plus 10+ years of experience in a technical discipline, including experience writing technical procedures in a commercial nuclear or Weapons Complex facility (in lieu of a degree, 18+ years of relevant technical procedure-writing experience in a commercial nuclear or Weapons Complex facility may be considered)
  • Familiarity with regulatory and administrative requirements affecting procedures, including applicable DOE Orders and Standards, Quality Assurance Program requirements, Nuclear Criticality Safety (NCS) documentation, and Hazard Analysis documents
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance
  • Ability to work full-time onsite


Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with the Technical Procedure Authoring Tool (TPAT) and/or the Administrative Procedure Authoring Tool (APAT)
  • Experience developing Enterprise-level procedures across multiple sites
