About DAT

DAT Freight & Analytics is an award-winning employer of choice and a next-generation SaaS technology company that has been at the leading edge of freight and logistics innovation for nearly five decades. Founded in 1978, DAT operates the largest freight marketplace in North America - processing 250 million+ load posts annually and maintaining one of the largest repositories of freight market transaction data in the world. On a defined path to $1 billion in revenue, DAT deploys a suite of software solutions, machine learning models, and intelligent automation tools that help brokers, carriers, and shippers price freight accurately, source capacity, reduce risk, and operate more efficiently. With nearly 700 teammates across offices in Denver, CO; Portland, OR; Seattle, WA; Springfield, MO; Toronto, ON; and Bangalore, India, DAT combines the credibility of a multi-decade market leader with the drive of a company that is not done disrupting the industry it helped build. Application Deadline: 10/1/2026

The Opportunity

We're hiring a Senior Associate to help redefine how BizOps gets done at DAT. This hybrid role sits at the intersection of strategy, business intelligence, and applied AI: you'll deliver the insights leaders rely on for strategic decisions, while designing and deploying AI agents that scale and extend our analytics capabilities.

You'll partner with stakeholders across the business to surface high-value problems, develop and report on KPIs that inform target priorities and team performance, and build agentic workflows that turn recurring tasks into self-service tools. With each analysis, you'll ask the natural follow-up: what can an agent do to complement this next time?

This is a high-impact IC role with meaningful visibility at the leadership level. Agents are rapidly transforming internal BizOps functions, and you'll shape how we incorporate them into ours.

What You'll Do

Develop and operate agentic solutions to traditional business intelligence responsibilities:

  • Strategic Oversight: Support leadership in developing and executing business strategies. Assist with setting organizational goals, tracking progress, and ensuring alignment across departments.
  • KPI development & ownership: Develop and own the key performance indicators that leadership uses to measure business health, ensuring metrics stay aligned with evolving strategic priorities.
  • Strategic & ad-hoc analysis: Partner with stakeholders across Operations, Finance, Product, and Marketing to scope analytical questions, deliver deep-dive insights, and translate findings into clear recommendations that drive business decisions.
  • BI development & reporting: Build and maintain dashboards, reports, and data models that make key business metrics accessible, accurate, and trustworthy across the organization.
  • Agent design & deployment: Design, prototype, and deploy AI agents that augment workflows, including agents that monitor metrics for anomalies, generate narrative summaries, answer ad-hoc data questions, and automate routine reporting cycles.
  • Performance monitoring & iteration: Track how deployed agents and dashboards perform in the wild, gather feedback from end users, and continuously refine outputs to improve accuracy, usefulness, and adoption over time.
  • Automation opportunity identification: Spot repetitive analytical tasks across the organization and evaluate which are best suited for agentic automation versus traditional BI tooling, balancing impact, complexity, and risk.
  • Data quality & integrity: Partner with Data Engineering to validate source data, surface inconsistencies, and ensure that both human-facing analyses and agent outputs are built on a trustworthy foundation.
  • Documentation & enablement: Document agent capabilities, limitations, and intended use cases so stakeholders know when to trust outputs and when to escalate or verify.

The Skills and Experience You'll Bring

  • 3-5 years in high-growth startups, strategy consulting, business intelligence, data analytics or specialized BizOps roles. Series A-C experience is a significant plus.
  • Strong SQL and Excel skills. You can independently get to the data you need and build the models behind your own reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate ambiguous business questions into structured analyses and clear recommendations.
  • Daily working fluency with AI tools in your day-to-day work; comfortable writing clear prompts, evaluating outputs, debugging agent behavior, and knowing when human judgment must override automation.
  • Growth mindset and a willingness to work hard; this will be a high-effort, high-reward type role for those excited about building business leverage with AI.

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience deploying AI agents or LLM-powered tools, including thinking through evaluation, monitoring, and failure modes.
  • Experience in logistics, fintech, marketplaces, or B2B SaaS businesses.

Why DAT?

DAT is an award winning employer of choice.
For starters, we have a hybrid work environment, but we also know what makes a great workplace. We have a time-tested and resolute set of operating values predicated on integrity, mutual respect, open communication, and executing with excellence. These values inform our strategic vision as much as any one of our products does. We've been an employer of choice in the Portland metropolitan area for four decades, and within one year of opening our Denver office, DAT was #26 on Built In Colorado's 100 Best Places to Work In Colorado.

  • Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, and AD&D insurance
  • Parental Leave
  • Flexible Time Off
  • An additional 10 holidays of paid time off per calendar year
  • 401k matching (immediately vested)
  • Employee Stock Purchase Plan
  • Short- and Long-term disability sick leave
  • Flexible Spending Accounts
  • Health Savings Accounts
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Additional programs - Employee Referral, Internal Recognition, and Wellness
  • Free TriMet transit pass (Beaverton Office)
  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • Work on impactful projects in a cutting-edge environment
  • Collaborative and supportive team culture
  • Opportunity to make a real difference in the trucking industry
  • Employee Resource Groups

For Washington-based candidates, in compliance with the Washington State Pay Transparency Law, the salary range for this role is $141,000 - $190,000. DAT considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education and training, core skills, internal equity, and market and business elements when extending an offer.
