Purpose:
The Returns Associate is responsible for inspecting, processing, and documenting returned items in a warehouse environment. This role ensures that all returned products are inspected thoroughly for damage, missing parts and documenting any issues so that the items can be properly dispositioned in the system. The Returns Associate is responsible for product movement within the warehouse and wrapping items properly based upon our wrapping standards. The associate will work closely with warehouse leadership, customer service, and inventory control teams to maintain accurate records and ensure efficient handling of returns.
General Description of duties:
This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employee may perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
  • Inspect returned items for damage, missing parts, and overall condition.
  • Determine appropriate disposition of returns (restock, damage)
  • Process items into inventory system accurately and efficiently.
  • Repackage and prepare items for restocking.
  • Safely transports, loads, and unloads materials and products to designated areas utilizing pallets, hand trucks, carts, dollies, shelving, and other devices.
  • Responsible for proper use and care of warehouse equipment to include RF scan guns, radios, tablets, etc.
  • Identify warranty or repair opportunities and tag items for service.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized returns area in compliance with warehouse standards.
  • Collaborate with customer service and inventory control to resolve discrepancies.
  • Document damages and communicate trends to supervisors for quality improvement.
  • Assist with general warehouse duties such as staging, organizing, and loading carts when required.

Qualifications:
  • Safety conscious approach to all activities.
  • Previous warehouse, logistics, or furniture handling experience preferred.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull heavy furniture (up to 50 lbs.) with proper equipment and team assistance.
  • Strong attention to detail when inspecting furniture.
  • Basic computer/data entry skills (experience with inventory systems a plus).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet processing deadlines.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Work as a part of a cooperative team where the members may change frequently.
  • Ability to quickly move your hands and arms to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects when handling, installing, positioning, or moving furniture.
  • Experience working with/around carts, dollies, and other warehouse equipment, including lifts and tuggers.
  • Ability to learn new computer systems.

Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1-3 years' experience in a manufacturing/warehouse or distribution center environment
