Description:

PURPOSE OF POSITION

Reporting directly to the Maintenance Lead, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for executing preventative maintenance and repair of equipment within the rubber mixing and molding operations. The role ensures equipment reliability, production continuity, and safety compliance through expert troubleshooting and adherence to mechanical and electrical standards.


Schedule: Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays as needed. Schedule may vary based on business needs. Available shifts include:

  • 4:00 AM - 12:00 PM
  • 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM
  • 4:00 PM - 12:00 AM


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Preventive Maintenance: Executes scheduled maintenance on mixers, extruders, molding presses, conveyors, and hydraulic systems to minimize downtime.
  • Troubleshooting & Repairs: Diagnoses mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues quickly and accurately.
  • Schematics: Able to read, interpret, and apply various forms of schematics such as electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic.
  • Fabrication and Mechanical: Apt at running conduit, SCH80 PVC, and capable of welding as needed.
  • Equipment Optimization: Suggests and implements improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Tooling: Maintain appropriate hand tools and diagnostic equipment.

Safety, Communication, and Teamwork

  • Follow all company safety protocols and housekeeping standards.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate repairs.
  • Exhibit a positive, team-oriented attitude and contribute to a collaborative work environment.

  • Accurately document maintenance activities.
  • Perform other maintenance-related tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Electrical Troubleshooting: Extensive knowledge and understanding of various voltages such as 120/208VAC 3 phase, 277/480VAC 3phase, and low voltage controls.
  • Temperature control systems: Experience with PID temperature controllers, solid state relays, and heaters.
  • Motors and Motor Controls: Extensive knowledge on motor and motor controls troubleshooting, such as contactors, overloads, VFD’s, and soft starts.
  • Hydraulic and Pneumatic Troubleshooting: Knowledge on various styles of hydraulic pumps and their operations. Experience troubleshooting DCV’s, pressure switches and check valves.
  • Low Voltage Controls Troubleshooting: Knowledge on low voltage controls such as PNP/NPN sensors, distance sensors, thermocouples, and encoders.
  • PLC Communication: Experience connecting and troubleshooting PLC’s using Ladder Logic is preferred.
  • Must supply and maintain personal tools and toolbox.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Industrial Maintenance Certification or equivalent is preferred
  • 5–7 years of industrial maintenance experience preferred.
  • Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
  • Fanuc Robotics programming experience.
  • Prior experience with rubber or plastic molding machines.
