REPORTS TO: Principal/Assistant Principal/Director of Security

QUALIFICATIONS:
ย
1.ย ย ย ย ย High school diploma or equivalent; valid New Jersey driver's license
ย
2.ย ย ย ย ย Minimum experience as determined by the board
ย
3.ย ย ย ย ย Knowledge of security measures, fire prevention, and crowd control
ย
4.ย ย ย ย ย Ability to maintain order and to work with groups and individuals on matters of security and crisis management
ย
5.ย ย ย ย ย Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status
ย
6.ย ย ย ย ย Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status
ย
7.ย ย ย ย ย Must be a retired Police Officer/NJSP
ย
8.ย ย ย ย ย Must have a current gun carry license/NJ SP RPO Identification card
ย
9.ย ย ย ย ย Must have a least 20 years law enforcement experience and retired in good standing
ย
10.ย Experience in school setting and working with school-aged students preferred
ย ย
JOB GOAL:
ย
To provide security and protection for pupils, staff, and school property. Assist the building administration with daily student management issues such as but not limited to:
ย
ย
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
ย
1.ย ย ย ย ย Patrols district buildings and grounds to protect against illegal entry, acts of violence, vandalism, illegal drug activity, arson, and theft.
ย
2.ย ย ย ย ย Conducts regular inspections of windows, doors, and other points of entry to ensure that they are secure.
ย
3.ย ย ย ย ย Patrols school grounds to observe unauthorized persons or vehicles, parking violations, and overall security of the outside area including exterior lighting and emergency access routes.
ย
4.ย ย ย ย ย Checks identification of pupils, staff, and visitors entering the school.
ย
5.ย ย ย ย ย Detains unauthorized persons; calls for police assistance in accordance with the district's security plan/crisis management plan.
ย
6.ย ย ย ย ย Participates in the district's/school's emergency and crisis management plan as assigned.
ย
7.ย ย ย ย ย Notifies police, fire department, or other appropriate authority of any situation requiring immediate attention.
ย
8.ย ย ย ย ย Records all observations and conditions, and reports unusual occurrences or property damage to superiors and documents rule violations.
ย
9.ย ย ย ย ย Submits written reports of all incidents of vandalism, violence, illegal drug activity, and security violations.
ย
10.ย Performs related duties as assigned.
ย
11.ย Bus entry/exit, student parking, lunch duty, and assists with violations of health and safety codes.
ย
ย
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
ย
Salary and work year to be determined as mutually agreed upon in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Rate - $20/hr.
