MERS/Missouri Goodwill Industries is looking for an energetic, self-motivated, and professional Math Teacher to join our Kansas City Excel Center team! About the Role

MERS/Missouri Goodwill Industries Kansas City Excel Center Team is seeking a seasoned teacher looking for another chance to truly change students’ lives. The ideal candidate is interested in serving adult learners who are earning their credit-bearing high school diploma (not a GED). Our students are motivated to put the past behind them and change their future for the better. At the Excel Center, our teachers and staff are their ultimate cheerleaders and accountability partners. This position is ideal for a recently retired teacher who misses the classroom and still has the love for helping students grow.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited Educational Institution; Master's Degree preferred.
  • Must be able to work with a diverse group of students, staff, and co-workers.
  • Strong verbal and written skills with the knowledge of Missouri educational requirements to receive a high school diploma is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with nontraditional and/or adult learners is preferred.
  • Current Missouri Teacher's Certificate in Math is required.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities
  • Provide a positive learning environment for adult learners.
  • Develop and implement strategies, activities, and objectives for learners.
  • Effectively facilitate a variety of differentiated learning opportunities including direct instruction, small group instruction, and cooperative learning. 
  • Provide visual, auditory, and hands-on learning activities that lead to required competencies (as outlined by the State of Missouri.)
  • Track each student's progress.
  • Work as part of a team to support barrier removal for adult learners.
  • Other duties as assigned.
