Led by a team of board-certified ophthalmologists and retina specialists, the practice has locations in Oak Forest, Bedford Park, Lemont, Lombard, and Lincolnwood, Illinois.

The physicians diagnose and treat retinal-related conditions, including macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment repair, and other disorders of the retina, vitreous, and macula.

Position Summary

We are now hiring for an Ophthalmic Technician that will support a high-volume retina practice that focuses on providing quality and compassionate care to each patient needed complete eye care services.ย

The Ophthalmic Technician/Medical Assistant role is more than a job, it is truly a career. In time you may become a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA), Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT), Ophthalmic Scribe Certified (OSC) and Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT).ย We encourage and support these certifications and provide assistance with the certification process.ย  Additional monetary incentives are awarded upon attainment.ย  The field of Ophthalmology offers diverse career paths such as clinical training, billing, corporate, and leadership roles as well. Pay Range - $20.00-$26.00/hr.ย  Commensurate with experience

Responsibilities

This position requires customer service skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a degree of independent decision-making.

Ophthalmic skills include:

  • Obtaining and documenting patient history
  • Determining visual acuity
  • Administering eye drops, ointments, and irrigating solutions to the eye as ordered by physician
  • Performing office duties and clinical tasks - entering data into EMR
  • Providing patient services
  • Maintaining equipment and instruments
Qualifications

Dependable transportation required to travel to other offices as required

Must be flexible with traveling to various locations.

Ability to pay attention to detail

Ability to maintain confidentiality

The ability to seek instruction in areas where he/she is not knowledgeable

The ability to recognize inconsistencies

Education:

Graduation from an accredited high school
