Job Description:
Job Title: Supply Chain Security Manager
FLSA: Exempt
General Function:
Supervises all security functions and oversees physical security for all of Hy-Vee Distribution Centers, Central Fill Pharmacy, and Hy-Vee subsidiaries.

Reporting Relations:
Accountable and Reports to Primary: Assistant Vice President Executive Security; Secondary: Distribution Center Presidents and Vice Presidents
Positions that report to you: Distribution Center Security Personnel
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supervises security personnel at the Distribution Center. Provides training for all security officers on a regular basis.
  • Works closely with the D.C. Presidents, Vice Presidents on security implementation and policies and procedures.
  • Provides training and education on security material for departments at all D.C.'s on a regular basis.
  • Manages and oversees all security, CCTV, card access, and security equipment for the D.C.'s.
  • Coordinates/manages DOT random drug/alcohol testing.
  • Reports to work when scheduled and works expected number of hours.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Participates in department meetings as needed for all D.C.'s to conduct and oversee the security projects for D.C. locations.
  • Continues evaluation of the security needs for all the D.C.'s.
  • Works with compliance managers and/or safety managers on emergency procedures and fire systems.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Supervises security officers and D.C. Security Supervisors.
  • Responsible for hiring, reviewing work, maintaining standards, assigning work, and acting on employee problems.
  • Has the authority to recommend employee transfer, promotion, discipline, and termination.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics:
  • Must have supervisory skills and experience.
  • Knowledge of physical security.
  • Investigation, interview, and interrogation skills.
  • Knowledge of security equipment used at the Distribution Centers.
  • Report writing skills and be able to do logical or scientific thinking to solve problems.

Education and Experience:
A degree or certification in criminal justice or security field related.
Over three years of similar or related work experience. Managerial experience, investigative skills, logistics and transportation security would be beneficial.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to physically perform light work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally.
  • Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with our without correction, depth perception, field of vision, and color vision.
  • Must be able to perform the following physical activities: stooping, reaching, standing, walking, grasping, fingering, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Working Conditions:
The duties of this position are normally conducted in an office environment and in the Distribution Centers. Temperature extremes are due to seasonal changes and/or if outdoors. There is a hazard from equipment movement while traveling the warehouses. There is pressure to handle multiple tasks in a day.
Equipment Used to Perform Job:
Guard 1 Plus Security, fax, copier, taser, handgun, company vehicle, laptop computer, cell phone, 2 way radios, CCTV system, card access system, Retalix Yard, Word, Excel, as well as warehouse equipment, breath alcohol testing equipment and urine collection.
Confidentiality:
Has access to employee records, confidential telephone calls, alarm system codes, access keys, home telephone numbers of Executive Staff and store managers, packages, mail left at traffic control centers, assists Loss Prevention Department with theft investigations and accident investigations, also list of random DOT drug and alcohol subjects.
Financial Responsibility:
Manages hours and wages for the security personnel.

Has contact with other employees, customers, suppliers/vendors, general public, community or trade/professional organizations and federal/state governmental or regulatory agencies.
