About the Role:
We’re looking for an Assistant Vice President, Retail Strategy responsible for supporting the development, coordination, and execution of enterprise retail initiatives across our life insurance and annuities business.

The AVP, Strategic Accounts serves as a key strategic partner to the President of Retail and plays a central role in cultivating business development opportunities for the retail business. In addition, this role will ensure alignment, prioritization, and execution across senior leadership, including Sales, Intelligence & Enablement, Marketing, and Strategic Accounts in addition to leaders of Operations, IT, Product and Actuary. This role will be responsible for developing new market opportunities and driving visibility into key initiatives, maintaining accountability across teams, and ensuring strategic priorities are executed effectively and on schedule.

What You’ll Do:

Retail Strategy and Execution

  • Support the development and execution of the enterprise retail strategy, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives and growth priorities;
  • Using market analysis to identify and prioritize key market growth opportunities
  • Translate strategic priorities into actionable plans, milestones, and deliverables across Retail leadership, overall operating committee and the Office of the CEO.
  • Monitor and track key initiatives to ensure progress, accountability, and timely execution
  • Identify risks, dependencies, and execution gaps, escalating appropriately and recommending solutions
  • Support the President of Retail in preparing for executive-level discussions, strategy sessions, and business reviews
  • Lead and develop key market research to influence and support key strategic decisions

Leadership Coordination & Operating Rhythm

  • Serve as a central point of coordination across Retail leadership, including SVP IMO Sales, SVP Bank & Broker Dealer Channel Sales, Marketing, Intelligence & Enablement, and Strategic Accounts
  • Drive consistency in how initiatives are tracked, communicated, and executed across teams
  • Establish and maintain operating rhythms, including leadership meetings, reporting cadences, and follow-ups
  • Ensure clear communication of priorities, timelines, and expectations across all stakeholders
  • Maintain visibility into all major Retail initiatives, ensuring alignment and minimizing duplication of efforts

Project & Initiative Management

  • Lead and manage cross-functional strategic retail and key enterprise initiatives from planning through execution
  • Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, and accountability frameworks across multiple workstreams
  • Ensure stakeholders remain aligned and informed throughout the lifecycle of key initiatives
  • Drive disciplined execution by holding teams accountable to deliverables and deadlines
  • Support the prioritization of initiatives based on business impact, resource capacity, and strategic importance


Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Develop collaborative partnerships between Retail, Product, Operations, and IT to support execution of strategic initiatives and Act as a liaison to ensure seamless coordination
  • Facilitate collaboration across teams to ensure alignment on goals, messaging, and execution plans
  • Support go-to-market initiatives, distribution expansion strategies, and enterprise-wide projects
  • Develop key external relationships with external partners to develop insights, identify potential markets for future growth, and track relevant trends.


Performance Tracking & Business Insights

  • Support the tracking and reporting of key Retail metrics, including growth initiatives, strategic priorities, and execution progress
  • Develop executive-level summaries and reporting materials for leadership and board-level discussions
  • Analyze business performance to identify opportunities for improvement and optimization
  • Ensure consistent and accurate communication of results, progress, and challenges

 

Operational & Risk Awareness

  • Maintain awareness of regulatory, compliance, and operational considerations within a life insurance and annuities environment
  • Partner with Compliance, Legal, and Operations to ensure all enablement materials and communications align with internal policies and regulatory requirements
  • Establish and support governance reporting processes related to Retail initiatives and strategic execution
  • Ensure disciplined documentation and tracking of decisions, timelines, and deliverables

 

What You’ll Bring:

  • 8+ years of solid experience in enablement, analytics, business intelligence, distribution and strategy within life insurance, annuities, or financial services
  • Strong experience supporting executive-level leadership and managing cross-functional initiatives
  • Proven ability to drive execution across complex, multi-stakeholder environments
  • Experience in sales, distribution, or retail financial service environments preferred
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
  • Ability to influence without direct authority and navigate ambiguity effectively
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment


Technical Skills

  • Ability to create executive-level presentations and materials
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills with the ability to synthesize data into clear insights
  • Experience with project management and collaboration tools (e.g., Smartsheet, Asana, Monday.com, or similar) preferred
  • Familiarity with CRM and sales reporting tools a plus
