Charles Schwab's Retail Strategy & Analytics is the internal management consulting group for the Retail business, which is the primary business unit at Schwab, responsible for $18B in revenue, and has 13,000 employees worldwide.
Retail Strategy & Analytics serves as a trusted adviser to the head of the Retail business and the Retail Leadership Team and works on strategic, operational, and analytical issues at the top of senior management's agenda. Our team of roughly 40 professionals is a premier pipeline for diverse and high potential talent, and alumni include senior leaders across the entire firm.
Retail Strategy & Analytics serves two primary functions:
1) Assisting with strategic decisions, operational, and business planning needs for the Retail Leadership Team
2) Supporting ongoing analytics and reporting needs for the Retail Leadership Team.
This opening is for the Retail Strategy function. This role will be expected to own the competitive intelligence and pricing responsibilities within the team. These responsibilities primarily include (a) providing the Retail Strategy PoV based on monitoring competitors' earnings, and public announcements and (b) maintaining Retail pricing competitive benchmarking. Other work may include growth strategy, market assessment and entry evaluation, M&A and divestiture strategy, and operating model / organizational design.
Opportunity Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Specialist who will help own the competitive intelligence and pricing responsibilities.
As a Senior Specialist, you will have the opportunity to:
Support and evolve Retail Strategy's pricing and competitive intelligence capabilities, serving as the team's point person for competitor actions and pricing dynamics
  • Maintain and enhance ongoing Retail pricing and competitive benchmarking, ensuring senior leaders have timely, accurate visibility into Schwab's market positioning
  • Synthesize fact-based, relevant points of view on competitors, translating insights and interpreting strategic implications for Retail leadership
  • Influence key strategic decisions that shape the direction of Schwab's Retail business through rigorous external analysis and clear storytelling
  • Support the execution of workstreams for large, complex strategy projects, bringing a strong competitive and market lens to broader initiatives such as growth strategy and market assessments
  • Build strong relationships with cross-functional partners, developing deep expertise in Retail pricing, competitive dynamics, and business economics
  • Regularly present and disseminate insights and recommendations to senior leadership
  • Benefit from minimal travel and a hybrid work environment (will be expected to be on-site 4 days per week)

What you have
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without employer sponsorship
  • 1+ years of full time work experience, preferably in management consulting, financial services, strategy, analytics, or roles involving market, pricing, or competitive analysis
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, including the ability to:
    • Analyze external data sources such as earnings, annual strategic updates, press releases, and industry research
    • Develop fact-based points of view on competitors and pricing dynamics
    • Synthesize insights into clear implications for retail business strategy
    • Stay in-tune with Senior Leadership's top priorities to translate external research into relevant strategic insights
  • Demonstrated interest or experience in competitive intelligence, pricing, or market analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex analysis into executive-ready insights and narratives
  • Ability to independently manage recurring analytical responsibilities (e.g., benchmarking, monitoring, updates) alongside project-based work
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with comfort managing ongoing deliverables
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to build credibility as a subject matter resource
  • Comfort working in a fast paced, evolving environment
  • Working proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel
