Job Summary:
The Retail Operations Manager leads retail operations for MRC Industries' social enterprise retail locations, including ThriftAbility and the artWorks retail gallery. This position is responsible for the overall leadership, operations, financial performance, and growth of MRC's retail enterprises. The Retail Operations Manager develops high-performing teams, establishes operational standards, drives revenue growth, and delivers exceptional customer experiences while advancing MRC's mission through sustainable social enterprise operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead retail operations for MRC Industries' social enterprise retail locations, ensuring consistent operational standards, customer experience, and brand presentation across all locations.
- Direct the overall financial performance of retail operations by developing and implementing strategies that increase sales, donations, customer traffic, and long-term profitability.
- Lead, coach, develop, and evaluate retail staff while fostering a collaborative, mission-driven culture built on accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Establish clear performance expectations and hold employees accountable for achieving operational and customer service standards.
- Oversee merchandising, pricing strategies, inventory management, and visual presentation to maximize product appeal and sales performance.
- Oversee retail operations for the artWorks gallery, including artwork merchandising, inventory management, featured artist displays, pricing coordination, and customer engagement that supports artists with disabilities.
- Accountable for sales growth, inventory management, labor efficiency, customer satisfaction, and overall operational performance.
- Analyze business performance and recommend operational improvements that enhance efficiency, profitability, and customer experience.
- Collaborate with Marketing to develop promotions, campaigns, and community initiatives that strengthen customer engagement and support revenue growth.
- Partner with organizational leadership to establish budgets, annual goals, and long-range strategies that support the continued growth of MRC's social enterprise initiatives.
- Coordinate staffing, inventory, merchandising, and operational priorities across all retail locations to ensure consistency and operational excellence.
- Support the growth of MRC's social enterprise initiatives through innovative retail operations that generate revenue while advancing MRC's mission and employment opportunities.

Education and Experience:
- Collaborative leader who enjoys building teams, solving problems, developing people, and finding creative ways to grow retail revenue while supporting a mission-driven organization.
- Minimum of three years of progressive retail leadership experience required.
- Experience in leading teams, driving sales, and managing retail operations required.
- Multi-location retail management experience preferred.
- Experience in thrift, resale, nonprofit retail, specialty retail, boutique retail, consignment, or gallery retail preferred.
- Experience supervising employees and developing high-performing teams required.
- Experience working within a mission-driven organization or supporting individuals with disabilities is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and reaching required.
- Ability to regularly lift and move items weighing up to 35 pounds.
Work Conditions:
- Work is performed primarily indoors in a retail store environment.
- Occasional exposure to dust and allergens from handling donated items.
- May require occasional evening and weekend work.
- May be exposed to bloodborne pathogens, infectious diseases, and parasites.
