The Retail Operations Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all retail operations across the organization. This role provides direct leadership to Retail Store Managers and is accountable for driving sales performance, operational excellence, customer experience, workforce planning, compliance, and consistent execution across all retail locations. 

The Retail Operations Manager serves as the primary liaison between retail stores and corporate departments, ensuring alignment with company objectives while fostering a high-performing, customer-focused culture. This position requires frequent travel between retail locations and a hands-on approach to coaching, development, and operational oversight. 

Essential Functions:

Retail Leadership & Operations 

  • Provide direct leadership, coaching, and support to all Retail Managers.  

  • Establish and maintain operational standards, policies, and procedures across all retail locations.  

  • Drive consistent execution of company initiatives, promotions, and strategic objectives.  

  • Monitor and improve store performance through KPI analysis and action planning.  

  • Conduct regular store visits and operational audits to ensure compliance and operational excellence.  

  • Develop and implement strategies to improve sales, productivity, profitability, and customer satisfaction.  

  • Partner with cross-functional departments to ensure stores are adequately supported and aligned with organizational goals.  

Team Leadership & Development 

  • Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing retail leadership teams.  

  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance reviews, and development planning with Retail Managers.  

  • Create succession plans and identify future leaders within the retail organization.  

  • Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, teamwork, and continuous improvement.  

  • Ensure consistent application of company policies and performance management practices.  

Customer Experience 

  • Champion an exceptional customer experience across all retail locations.  

  • Analyze customer feedback and identify opportunities for improvement.  

  • Develop initiatives that increase customer loyalty, retention, and satisfaction.  

  • Ensure retail teams maintain professional, knowledgeable, and service-oriented interactions with customers.  

Financial & Business Management 

  • Monitor and analyze sales performance, labor costs, inventory metrics, and other operational KPIs.  

  • Develop action plans to achieve revenue, profitability, and operational goals.  

  • Partner with Finance and HR to manage budgets, staffing plans, and labor utilization.  

  • Utilize data and reporting tools to identify trends and drive business decisions.  

Compliance & Risk Management 

  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.  

  • Maintain adherence to state and local regulations applicable to retail operations.  

  • Partner with Compliance, Security, and Operations teams to mitigate risk and address operational concerns.  

  • Conduct investigations and corrective action processes as needed.  

Inventory & Operational Controls 

  • Collaborate with Inventory, Fulfillment, and Operations teams to ensure product availability and inventory accuracy.  

  • Monitor inventory trends and implement corrective actions to minimize shrinkage and operational losses.  

  • Ensure stores follow established inventory handling, cash management, and security procedures. 

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Ability to travel regularly between retail locations throughout Texas.  

  • Expected travel of approximately 40%–60% of working time, depending on business needs, store performance, staffing support, and expansion activities.  

  • Frequent visits to retail locations to conduct operational reviews, coach leaders, support store initiatives, and ensure consistency across the organization.  

  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.  

  • Must maintain a valid driver's license and be able to travel independently throughout the state. 

What You'll Need to Succeed:

Required 

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, Operations Management, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.  

  • 5+ years of multi-unit retail leadership experience.  

  • 3+ years of direct people leadership experience managing managers.  

  • Demonstrated success leading multiple retail locations and achieving operational goals.  

  • Strong understanding of retail operations, workforce management, inventory control, and customer service.  

  • Experience analyzing KPIs and translating data into actionable business strategies.  

  • Excellent communication, coaching, and leadership skills.  

  • Ability to travel regularly between retail locations.  

Preferred 

  • Experience in highly regulated industries such as healthcare, pharmacy, medical cannabis, alcohol, or other compliance-driven retail environments.  

  • Experience supporting retail growth, new store openings, or multi-site operations.  

  • Familiarity with POS systems, workforce management platforms, and retail reporting tools.
