Job description

SUMMARY:

The Retail Market Manager plays a critical leadership role in overseeing the operations, growth, and success of multiple bank branches within their designated market. This individual is responsible for driving business development, ensuring exceptional customer service, and maintaining operational excellence. Reporting to senior management, the Retail Market Manager helps to develop and execute strategic initiatives, provides mentorship to branch teams, and fosters a culture of collaboration and high performance.

JOB DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide direct oversight, guidance, and support to branch managers, assistant branch managers and their teams.
  • Foster a collaborative culture focused on teamwork, exceptional customer service, and continuous improvement.
  • Visits branches in assigned market at least quarterly, at minimum.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, set measurable goals, and provide coaching, mentoring, empowers team and provides training to drive staff development.
  • Ensure staff are well-trained in operational processes, internal audit policy and procedures bank policies, and compliance standards through regular meetings and training sessions.
  • Develop and implement market-specific strategies to achieve growth objectives, financial targets, and organizational goals.
  • Analyze market trends, customer behaviors, and competitive positioning to identify business development opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships, ensuring satisfaction, retention, and new customer acquisition.
  • Monitor financial performance across branches, ensuring alignment with budgeted goals and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Oversee branch operations to ensure adherence to banking regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Implement risk management measures and maintain a high standard of operational integrity.
  • Act as a resource for resolving operational challenges and ensuring smooth day-to-day branch functions.
  • Represent the bank in community events, organizations, and initiatives to enhance the bank's presence and reputation.
  • Build and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, including business clients, community leaders, and corporate partners and cross functioning partnerships across the organization
  • Actively participate in promoting the bank's products and services to foster growth and community involvement.
  • Prepare and present regular market performance reports, including financial metrics, strategic insights, and recommendations, to senior management.
  • Maintain open and effective communication with branch managers and other branch leadership to share updates, provide guidance, and encourage best practices.
  • Serve as a liaison between branches and senior leadership to communicate organizational priorities and feedback.
  • Conduct weekly huddles with branch leadership and monthly 1:1 with branch leadership
  • Oversight of retail branch staffing, hiring, evaluating, training, coaching and setting expectations
  • Responsible for talent management. Partner with Human Resources to lead hiring, promotion, and performance management processes within the market
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned to support organizational objectives and enhance operational efficiency.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Air-conditioned office environment.
  • Travel to other branch locations within the region as needed.
  • Consistent and timely attendance is required to ensure uninterrupted operational efficiency and exemplary service delivery.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Sit for extended periods of time.
  • Walk, stand, bend, squat, twist, and reach.
  • Simple grasping and fine manipulation
  • Extended keyboarding
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 years of banking experience, with a focus on branch management, retail banking, or market leadership.
  • 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor teams, with a strong focus on customer service excellence and employee development.
  • Knowledge of all federal and state regulations regarding lending and related departments.
  • Knowledge of commercial banking products, services, and lending procedures.
  • Exceptional analytical, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Commitment to community engagement and fostering a positive bank reputation.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Strong confidentiality, decision making, accuracy, and attention to detail.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field
