Reliance Bank is looking for a customer-focused and detail-oriented Retail Loan Processor/Underwriter I to join our Retail Loan Operations team. This is a full-time, on-site position based at our Corporate Office in Altoona, PA. In this role, you'll partner with our lenders to help our bank customers navigate the loan process while supporting sound credit decisions and ensuring a smooth, efficient lending experience from application through closing.

What You'll Do
  • Review consumer and residential mortgage loan applications for completeness, accuracy, and compliance
  • Gather and analyze credit reports, income documentation, appraisals, collateral information, and other supporting documents
  • Evaluate creditworthiness and calculate qualifying ratios to support lending decisions
  • Underwrite loan requests and prepare approval, counteroffer, or decline recommendations within established authority levels
  • Prepare disclosures, commitment letters, adverse action notices, and other loan documentation
  • Manage assigned loan pipelines to ensure timely processing and closing
  • Order and track appraisals, credit reports, flood certifications, verifications, and other due diligence items
  • Communicate with borrowers, lenders, vendors, and third-party providers to obtain required documentation and clear loan conditions
  • Prepare consumer loan documentation and coordinate loan closings
  • Resolve documentation discrepancies, underwriting concerns, and processing issues
  • Support compliance, quality control, audit, and reporting activities
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and enhance the customer experience
Requirements: What We're Looking For:


Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in banking, lending, loan processing, underwriting, or a related financial services role
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to effectively manage multiple priorities while meeting required deadlines
Preferred
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field
  • Specialized training in consumer lending, mortgage lending, underwriting, or banking operations
  • Knowledge of consumer and residential mortgage lending products
  • Experience processing or underwriting consumer and mortgage loan applications
