  • Maintain employee records, HR systems, policies and the employee handbook
  • Oversee performance management, training and employee-development initiatives
  • Monitor recruiting, turnover and other workforce trends and recommend improvements
  • Continuously improve HR processes, systems and the overall employee experience
  • Coordinate with the Payroll Specialist to ensure employee and compensation changes are accurate, documented and properly communicated

Qualifications & Experience

  • Five or more years of progressive HR experience, including substantial responsibility for employee relations, investigations, recruiting and compliance
  • Prior experience as an HR Manager, senior HR Generalist or similar hands-on HR leader
  • Working knowledge of federal and Michigan employment laws
  • Experience supporting hourly, salaried, commissioned and variable-compensation employees
  • Automotive dealership, retail, hospitality or other multi-location service-business experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration or a related field preferred
  • SHRM or HRCI certification preferred but not required

Skills

  • Sound judgment and the ability to handle sensitive employee matters appropriately
  • Strong organization, time management and attention to detail
  • Ability to balance competing priorities and respond effectively to time-sensitive matters
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfort conducting investigations and having difficult conversations
  • Practical, responsive and solutions-oriented approach
  • Ability to build credibility with employees and senior leadership
  • Strong follow-through and personal accountability
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Willingness to work regularly at both Metro Detroit locations

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive base salary and annual performance bonus commensurate with experience and qualifications
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision and 401(k)
