Position Overview
Are you a licensed engineer ready to transition from production to true technical stewardship? We are seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to serve as a cornerstone of our Orlando engineering operations. In this role, you will do more than execute designs-you will architect the mechanical soul of complex commercial infrastructures. You will act as a primary technical authority, steering the division toward innovative, code-compliant solutions while mentoring the next generation of engineering talent.
Joining our team means immersing yourself in a culture that prizes "practical brilliance." We don't just design systems; we bring communities to life through smart, efficient engineering. With full in-house support for permitting and licensing, the firm provides a streamlined environment where you can focus on high-level strategy and technical excellence. This is a legacy-building opportunity for a seasoned professional to take full ownership of diverse project portfolios within a collaborative, growth-oriented firm.
Core Responsibilities
  • System Architecture & Design: Lead the mechanical design, complex engineering calculations, and system layouts for high-impact commercial and industrial projects.
  • Technical Leadership: Independently steer engineering decisions across diverse sectors, ensuring all designs align with both internal excellence standards and rigorous building codes.
  • Mentorship & Development: Supervise, guide, and cultivate the skills of design staff and junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical precision.
  • Strategic Coordination: Partner with project managers and clients to define project scope, manage aggressive schedules, and ensure technical strategies align with budgetary constraints.
  • Interdisciplinary Integration: Interface seamlessly with architects, civil engineers, and permitting agencies to ensure mechanical systems are perfectly integrated into the broader building lifecycle.
  • Quality Assurance (QA/QC): Execute rigorous reviews of construction documents to ensure absolute functionality, coordination, and compliance with local and national regulations.
  • Project Stewardship: Provide technical oversight from initial concept through final permitting, ensuring every deliverable meets the firm's standard for "smart, efficient, and practical design."

Required Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME).
  • Licensure: Active Professional Engineer (PE) License (Required).
  • Experience: 8+ years of dedicated mechanical engineering design experience, specifically within the AEC consulting sector.
  • Software Proficiency: Advanced mastery of Revit and modern mechanical modeling/load calculation tools.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of national and local building codes (ASHRAE, IMC, IPC).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Sector Expertise: Prior success managing project types including grocery, retail, large-scale multifamily, or industrial facilities.
  • Leadership Breadth: Proven ability to manage multiple design teams simultaneously across various geographic jurisdictions.
  • Permitting Authority: Familiarity with complex jurisdictional requirements and the ability to navigate the permitting process with efficiency.
