Director of Operations, Jewelry Store

The Director of Operations provides day-to-day leadership for the operational performance of a jewelry retail business in all locations. This position is accountable for delivering operational excellence through customer experience, inventory integrity, security, staffing support, and regulatory compliance.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, sound business judgment, and experience managing operations within a high-value retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership for daily store operations to ensure efficiency, consistency, and alignment with brand standards.

  • Oversee core operational functions, including inventory management, receiving, transfers, repairs and special orders.

  • Establish and maintain procedures that support the accurate handling of high-value merchandise and loss prevention.

  • Monitor operational performance through key metrics, including sales productivity, inventory accuracy, shrink, turnaround time, and customer satisfaction.

  • Partner with store leadership to support effective staffing, scheduling, training, and accountability across customer-facing and operational teams.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

  • Support merchandising execution, store presentation, and promotional readiness in accordance with brand expectations.

  • Collaborate with finance, human resources, marketing, and senior leadership on budgeting, reporting, and business planning activities.

  • Lead process improvement initiatives that strengthen efficiency, service quality, and profitability.

  • Develop managers and team members to build operational capability and reinforce a culture of accountability and excellence.

  • Maintain a secure operating environment by ensuring adherence to all security systems, protocols, and control procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business and/or Retail Management and Operations experience.

  • Proven ability to lead teams, improve processes, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced retail environment.

  • Experience using point-of-sale systems, inventory management platforms, scheduling tools, and performance reporting.

  • Strong communication, coaching, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities with close attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated professionalism, sound judgment, and the ability to manage confidential information appropriately.

Preferred Experience

  • Five or more years experience in retail operations or store leadership, preferably within jewelry, luxury retail, or other high-value product environments.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of inventory control, operational processes, and internal controls.

  • Experience in fine jewelry, watches, bridal, or other luxury accessories retail environments.

  • Experience supporting cross-functional store operations, including sales, service, merchandising, and inventory management.

  • Experience contributing to budgeting, workforce planning, and key performance indicator development.
