Summary:

The Finishing Operator I sets up and operates multiple machines and uses hand tools to perform repetitive, high-production finishing operations.

This role includes grinding, cutting materials to specified dimensions, dressing, speed testing, and small sandblasting operations.

Products handled range from initial shaping stages through final finishing.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

Machine Operation & Equipment

Set up and operate finishing equipment such as sandblasters, speed testers, and balancers.

Select appropriate tooling and make adjustments following work orders and production instructions.

Use hand and power tools to set up and control production machinery.

Monitor machine operations and adjust settings as needed to maintain quality and efficiency.

Transfer materials, parts, or finished products to designated work areas using appropriate equipment.

Production Tasks

Load and unload materials or workpieces manually or with hoists.

Perform finishing activities including grinding, cutting, trimming, scraping, shaping, and deburring components.

Ensure finished products meet required specifications and quality standards.

Documentation & Process Control

Follow work orders, machine instructions, and supervisor direction to determine specifications and operational sequence.

Record product and processing data using designated forms or computer systems.

Support quality checks and inspections conducted by supervisors or senior operators.

Materials & Products

Work involves manufacturing and finishing products such as:

Abrasive wheels

Abrasive segments

Ceramic finishing materials

Kiln furniture components
