What is a restoration project manager?

Restoration Project Managers are professionals who oversee and coordinate the recovery and repair of properties that have been damaged by events such as water, fire, mold, or storms. They manage all aspects of the restoration process, including assessing damage, creating project plans, coordinating with subcontractors and insurance adjusters, and ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. Their role is crucial in helping property owners return their spaces to pre-loss conditions while adhering to industry standards and safety regulations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a restoration project manager, and why are they important?

Familiarity with project management software, estimating tools (such as Xactimate), and safety regulations is typically required. Strong leadership, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for coordinating teams and managing client expectations. These skills ensure projects are completed efficiently, safely, and to client satisfaction in high-pressure, time-sensitive environments.
