Job description

Job Summary:

The Construction Project Manager position will oversee all restaurant construction related activities and projects ensuring that all restaurants are built according to the approved construction drawings. This role is responsible for applying effective management techniques throughout the planning, design, and construction phases of new restaurant projects and renovation projects from inception to completion. The primary goal is to control costs, manage time efficiently, and maintain high-quality standards throughout the construction process.

Duties/responsibilities:

  • Hold overall responsibility for the safety, direction, completion, and financial outcome of construction projects from the initial budget through project closeout.
  • Ensure all projects are performed in a quality manner as per the drawings, specifications, and scope of work.
  • Manage projects in progress including vendor coordination, conflict resolution, documentation, and ensuring quality and safety.
  • Manage project costs through the ongoing evaluation of labor, material, and equipment, and continue to forecast and analyze construction costs, exposures, and profits through project completion.
  • Ensures that all necessary permits and regulatory requirements are met and maintained throughout the project.
  • Maintains open and effective communication with project stakeholders, including contractors, subcontractors , vendors, and store managers.
  • Manage and mitigate risk throughout project lifecycle.
  • Regularly seek to develop new supplier design/construction resources.
  • Conduct basic information audits on new suppliers and generate corresponding analysis reports.
  • Maintains professional, positive relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Project Site Survey

  • Conduct comprehensive on-site survey and prepare detailed risk assessment reports based on site conditions.
  • Evaluate project risks in the early stages and develop corresponding cost estimates.
  • Be familiar with Haidilao’s construction requirements and characteristic to provide relevant engineering conditions for this project.
  • Negotiate and finalize construction conditions with the property management to reach a consensus.

New Construction and Renovation Projects

  • Conduct design briefings based on the engineering conditions of the project.
  • Resolve design obstacles promptly to drive the design process forward according to the planned timeline.
  • Identify and evaluate potential bidders, address queries, and oversee the bidding process to ensure adherence to the planned timeline.
  • Oversees and manages all on-site construction activities, including subcontractor coordination, material procurement, and equipment usage.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of construction processes and techniques, project planning and budgeting, construction materials/specifications, building codes, contracts, and safety regulations.
  • Ability to read and comprehend construction drawings.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and project resources effectively.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Procore, AutoCAD).
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Fluent in both Chinese Mandarin and English.
  • Frequent business trips.

Education / Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years Restaurant Construction related experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required (Construction Management, Architecture or Mechanical Engineering)
  • MP (Project Management Professional) certification is preferred but not required.
