Position: Respiratory Student

Position Summary: The Respiratory Care student works to perform basic respiratory modalities and arterial blood gases. The Respiratory Student will support the Department Director, Clinical Coordinators, and other staff of the Respiratory Care Services Department, Pulmonary function Lab. Supports an organizational culture for Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence Standards to all customer groups.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Demonstrates the ability to set priorities to achieve maximum efficiency during the scheduled shift without interfering
with the quality of work completed. Manages time well and performs all tasks in a timely manner.

Qualifications

Requirements:

1. High School Diploma or equivalency required.
2. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
3. Must possess current BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire and maintain
certification throughout employment.
4. Must be enrolled and attending an AMA approved formal respiratory training program.

Physical and Sensory Requirements:
1. Ability to read, write, and converse in English.
2. Ability to communicate with patients, families, and staff.
3. Ability to remain calm under stress.
4. Ability to evaluate and interpret information and make independent decisions.
5. Bending, lifting (10-30 lbs minimum) grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing, pulling, prolonged standing and/or
    sitting, and squatting.
