Job description

Role: Human Resources Manager

Location: Calgary

The role: 

We are currently looking for an experienced HR Manager to join our Calgary office with responsibility supporting our Calgary, Toronto, and Vancouver offices. This is a permanent, full-time position working in our downtown Calgary office, largely in-person. The role reports to the CEO, in this capacity the Human Resources Manager will be responsible for key organizational and staffing issues, have strategic input on people and culture initiatives, while managing day-to-day HR operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct the end-to-end hiring process for lawyers and administrative staff,
  • Forecasting staffing needs to match practice areas and growth strategies including overseeing the onboarding and offboarding of all employees
  • Oversee annual performance reviews, structure competitive benefit packages, and administer salary benchmarking relevant to the Calgary, Toronto and Vancouver legal market.
  • Advise senior leadership team on the organizational strategy, ensuring the HR framework supports the firm’s entrepreneurial and growth-oriented goals
  • Serve as the primary advisor to the leadership team on employee relations, conflict resolution, and workplace culture
  • Ensure all HR policies adhere to the employment standards of each jurisdiction and comply with health and safety standards
  • Manage the HR budget, navigating our HRIS system and reporting to the leadership team on trends, turnover, and workflow
  • Design onboarding, and continuous career development paths for associates, and staff through performance development and goal setting
  • Act as a first point of contact on all HR matters from vacation requests to strategic vision alignment, and execution
  • Working knowledge of laws, regulations, and best practices in employment and human resources fields
  • Other administrative and HR duties as required


Requirements:

  • 5 years+ progressive experience in Human Resources leadership
  • Industry experience in a professional office setting an asset (Accounting, Law, Engineering, Dental, Medical, Architecture)
  • Post-secondary degree and/or certificate from a recognized HR program
  • CPHR or equivalent designation an asset
  • Experience with an HRIS system (BambooHR, Rise, Humi, etc)
  • Excellent communication skills (spoken, written)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
