Job description

  • Position Summary
    • Under the general supervision of the Manager of the unit, the Resource Coordinator is responsible for facilitating, coordinating in conjunction with health care teams, staffing, supplies/equipment, and patient flow/scheduling as a charge agent. Develop, motivate, assess, and negotiate as a change agent in an effort to enhance organizational effectiveness. Utilizes the nursing process to care for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients based on current standards of practice. Functions within the permissible scope of nursing practice as defined by the Georgia Board of Nursing and St. Joseph’s/Candler Health System policies and procedures

    • Registered Nurse License with State of Practice – Required
    • National certification in the specialty area of practice required within 1 year of accepting the position of Resource Coordinator
  • Core Job Functions
    • Care plan developed and implemented with other health care team members. Is a resource for others in the delivery of timely professional communication with physicians regarding Situation, Background, Assessment, and Recommendation format. Is a resource for assuring consistent rounding and communicating including present on admission indicators.
    • Utilizes data from retention rounds and exit interviews to revise recruitment and retention plan. Seeks and implements best practices for recruitment and retention. Serves as a resource for Managers and others to identify appropriate staffing opportunities.
    • Serves as a resource to staff in supporting service line/department focused activities. Uses peer review, observation, education and role modeling as tools for staff development. Collaborates with co-workers in implementing action plans for nurse sensitive indicator and quality metrics compliance.
    • Uses critical thinking skills to assess and document to improve patient health outcomes. Participates as a resource in developing tools to accurately assess and document the physical, psycho-social, growth, and developmental dimensions of the patient. Reviews unit, staff performance in collaboration with the manager.
    • Effectively translates hospital strategy and objectives to nursing units and ancillary departments. Serves as a resource for development and implementation of patient flow. Mentors and promotes an environment that fosters learning and competence.
