Resort Engineer information

What is a resort engineer?

Resort Engineers are professionals responsible for maintaining and repairing the infrastructure, equipment, and facilities at a resort. Their duties typically include overseeing heating and cooling systems, electrical and plumbing work, and ensuring all amenities operate smoothly for guests. They may also manage routine inspections, supervise maintenance staff, and coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs. The goal of a Resort Engineer is to ensure a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable environment for guests and staff.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a resort engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Resort Engineer, you need strong expertise in facility maintenance, HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems, often supported by a degree or certification in engineering or a related field. Familiarity with building management systems (BMS), maintenance scheduling software, and relevant safety certifications is typically required. Excellent troubleshooting abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help you respond quickly to issues and coordinate with other departments. These capabilities ensure smooth resort operations, guest satisfaction, and the safety and longevity of property assets.

What are the most common challenges faced by a resort engineer, and how can they be addressed on the job?

Resort Engineers often encounter challenges such as managing unexpected equipment failures, balancing preventative maintenance with urgent repairs, and coordinating with multiple departments to minimize guest disruption. To address these, strong organizational skills and effective communication are essential, as is staying up-to-date with the latest maintenance technologies. Building a proactive maintenance schedule and fostering good relationships with suppliers and colleagues help ensure smooth operations and guest satisfaction.

The cottage-style hotel and event venue unites thoughtfully designed accommodations, destination dining, weddings and retreats, wellness, outdoor experiences, and seasonal programming—all grounded in a strong sense of place and connection to the surrounding community. The resort’s premium spa and dining programs are open to resort guests and to the public.  Dawn Ranch is the perfect destination to co-create luxury and inspiration.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a creative, organized, and highly collaborative Resort Marketing Coordinator to join our team.

If you are passionate about experiential travel, have strong project-management skills, an eye for compelling hospitality content, and are comfortable coordinating multiple contributors, managing deadlines, and supporting campaigns – then this role is for you!

As Resort Marketing Coordinator, you will help bring the Dawn Ranch experience to life across social media, email, digital platforms, partnerships, and on-property programming.  You will work in collaboration with all resort departments to promote the hotel, dining, wedding, retreat, wellness, and resort programming.

The Resort Marketing Coordinator reports to the Resort General Manager, and works closely with the Corporate Marketing Team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain the resort’s consistent, compelling, and accurate presence across marketing channels.
  • Communicate resort promotions, events, packages, and programming clearly and effectively.
  • Ensure Marketing efforts are closely connected to business objectives and operational priorities.
  • Maintain records of marketing initiatives and results, providing clear and timely updates regarding upcoming initiatives and results to the General Manager and Corporate Marketing Team.

Social Media and Content Coordination

  • Coordinate the resort’s social media and content in partnership with the Corporate Marketing Team, including the work of content creators and other creative partners.
  • Review planned content for brand consistency, accuracy, quality, and alignment with business objectives
  • Coordinate on-property content shoots, and assist with setup/staging as needed. May require occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
  • Collect and organize marketing materials.

  • Support the development and execution of marketing initiatives between the resort and the Corporate Marketing Team including packages, special events, programming, and promotions.
  • Translate operational updates into clear marketing briefs and promotional opportunities.
  • Ensure the accuracy of resort information across digital and printed platforms.
  • Coordinate the production and distribution of printed and digital collateral.
  • Assist with email marketing, newsletters, website updates, digital listings, and third-party platform content.

Partnerships, Public Relations and Influencer Support

  • Help identify and coordinate local partnerships including wineries, farms, creatives, wellness providers, tourism organizations, and community businesses.
  • Support community outreach and local promotional opportunities.
  • Coordinate on-site influencer, media, and other visits, ensuring hosted guests and partners receive a seamless and brand-aligned experience.

Resort Experience Coordination and Support

  • Coordinate and execute on-site guest experiences including resort programming and partnered experiences
  • Coordinate and support inter-departmental execution of resort experiences
  • Coordinate and support resort recommendations for brand aligned off-site activities in partnership with select local partners

Reporting and Administration

  • Maintain records of marketing initiatives and track basic marketing performance. Prepare regular updates for the General Manager and Corporate Marketing Team.
  • Maintain organized digital files, assets, and records.
  • Assist with invoices, purchases, agreements, and expense tracking.
  • Attend relevant department and marketing meetings as needed.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS OF THE ROLE

  • Strong organizational and project-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple deadlines while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • An eye for photography, video, design, storytelling, and brand presentation.
  • Work collaboratively with operational teams, executives, agencies, vendors, and creative partners.
  • Proficient use of social media platforms and common workplace and marketing tools such as Canva, email marketing platforms, content scheduling tools, and basic performance-reporting platforms

  • Able to walk, including on uneven surfaces and climbing stairs, standing to a significant degree, kneel, reach, bend, lift, feel, talk, hear, and see.
  • Assist other departments as needed, and perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
