Job titleAssociate Attorney, LitigationSummary/ObjectiveMortgage-related litigation files as lead counsel in State and Federal courts in Texas. An attorney in this position will draft and file pleadings and motions, manage cases from inception through resolution, and represent clients in contested matters and hearings. The attorney will communicate daily with clients, borrowers, and opposing counsel. Court appearances and hearing attendance required.
Essential Functions- Provide legal advice to the Firms mortgage servicing clients.
- Research and analyze legal sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and legal codes.
- Prepare legal briefs, pleadings, appeals, contracts, and any other necessary legal documentation during the course of litigation in State Court and Federal District Court.
- Handle civil litigation cases from referral to resolution, which may necessitate the use of written and oral advocacy, motion practice, discovery, trial preparation, trial, and appellate court briefing and argument.
- Participation in mediation, willingness and ability to understand complex loan documentation and loss mitigation processes.
- Review work product of staff for accuracy;
- Settle cases and attend hearings
QualificationsPosition Preferences:- Juris Doctorate;
- Licensed to practice law in the State and Federal Courts in Texas.
- 2+ years experience preferred in finance or representation of financial institutions in real estate related matters.
- MUST have Trial experience. Even minimal hands-on trial work qualifies.
- Ability to work through complex mortgage-related issues.
- PC literate and able to rapidly adapt to a variety of data base systems including but not limited to Microsoft Word;
- Mustrepresent the company in various forums to foster the desires and image of the company in the community.

Working conditionsThis position operates from the Dallas office location. At times it will be required to travel to the Firms other office locations of which are in a professional office environment.

The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms and requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies up to 20 pounds.
Position Type and Expected Work Hours This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Employee must maintain reliable transportation to meet regular in-office work schedule requirements.
