Job description

Job Title: Residential Services Caregiver 

Reports To: Residential Services Coordinator

Position: Full-Time, Hourly

Location: Burlington

Salary Range: $18/hour

Overview

The Residential Services Caregiver provides direct care and support to an individual(s) with developmental disabilities, physical challenges, or chronic illnesses within a residential setting (client's home or community-based group home). The primary goal is to foster independence, ensure health and safety, and enhance the overall quality of life for the client(s). 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct Client Care and Support
  • Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.
  • Assist clients with Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs), such as meal preparation, light housekeeping, laundry, and running errands.
  • Administer or assist with medication administration as prescribed and document accurately, adhering to all protocols.
  • Provide mobility assistance, including safe transfers, ambulation, and use of assistive devices (e.g., wheelchairs, walkers).
  • Monitor and document client health status, vital signs, and any significant changes in condition, reporting concerns promptly to the appropriate supervisor or medical personnel.
  • Implement and document behavioral support plans and positive intervention strategies as required.
  • Understand and adhere to professional and personal boundaries within the residential environment.
Health, Safety, and Wellness
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and organized living environment.
  • Monitor clients for signs of illness or health changes and report immediately to the Residential Services Coordinator or On Call Supervisor.
  • Manage and track household supplies, groceries, and client personal items.
  • Adhere to all emergency procedures and protocols, including fire safety and evacuation plans.
  • Promote client wellness through encouragement of healthy eating habits and participation in physical activities.
Community Integration and Socialization
  • Facilitate client participation in social, recreational, educational, and vocational activities both inside and outside the home.
  • Provide transportation for community outings, and errands using the client's or personal vehicle as arranged.
  • Encourage the development of meaningful relationships and community connections.
  • Act as a positive role model and advocate for the client.
Documentation and Communication
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough documentation of daily activities, progress notes, incident reports, medication logs, and financial expenditures.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with supervisors, clients, and co-workers.
  • Refer family members and guardians to on-call supervisor or Coordinator for medical questions or other concerns.
  • Carry and answer a company cell phone during shift.
  • Report any issues or concerns to the assigned coordinator or on-call supervisor.
  • Attend all mandatory staff meetings and training sessions.
Other Duties 
  • Complete all scheduled daily tasks, seeking clarification from Residential Services Coordinators.
  • Ensure all company vehicles are maintained, clean and fueled.
  • Other duties as assigned by Residential Services Coordinator or Director of Residential Services.
Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license in good standing and be able to be an approved driver under the company’s liability insurance coverage.
  • Must pass a comprehensive background check (local, state, and federal) and drug screening.
  • Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to give and receive feedback in a professional manner.
  • Must be proficient in reading, writing and speaking English.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
  • Must be able to lift at least 50lbs, bend and twist.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods in a home environment or in a vehicle.
  • Must be able to traverse in home, office and community settings.
