ARCHITECTURAL DRAFTER

POSITION SUMMARY: Homes by Dickerson is looking for an experienced Architectural Drafter to support the architectural design team in producing precise, high-quality construction documents. This role requires a meticulous professional who takes pride in accuracy, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to technical excellence. The Architectural Drafter will work closely with the Lead Architectural Designer(s) to translate conceptual plans into actionable technical drawings that meet both company standards and regulatory requirements. This position demands proficiency in residential construction, strong organizational skills, and an ability to adapt designs based on site conditions and project specifications. Through a collaborative approach, the Architectural Drafter will help ensure that every project is thoroughly documented and ready for seamless execution, contributing to the Homes by Dickerson standard of quality and client satisfaction.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Produce precise, detailed technical drawings-including building dimensions, elevations, sections, materials, and construction details.
  • Assemble and organize lot-specific drawing sets for project clarity and accuracy.
  • Ensure accuracy and maintain urgency in all drawings to meet project timelines and standards.
  • Apply design improvements and value-engineering principles to plans, taking structural requirements into account.
  • Incorporate field verifications and resolve field-related issues within the base plan libraries.
  • Collaborate with the purchasing team members to refine and improve takeoff procedures and processes.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support the project team and ensure design consistency across projects.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum Associates or Bachelor's Degree.
  • 1-2 years minimum experience required in Autodesk AutoCAD producing working drawings for residential construction.
  • Familiarity with Chief Architect and/or other 3D BIM software is a plus. 
  • Familiarity with construction best practices, applicable building codes, zoning ordinances, various building types, and other legal restrictions.
