Restaurant Host
Bethesda Country Club is seeking a friendly, organized, and service-focused Restaurant Host to join our Food & Beverage team. As the first point of contact for our Members and guests, you'll play an important role in creating a warm, welcoming dining experience from the moment they arrive.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys interacting with people, and has excellent organizational and multitasking skills. In this role, you'll manage daily reservations, coordinate seating, communicate with Members, and help ensure our dining rooms are prepared to deliver exceptional service.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Manage same-day dining reservations using the Club's reservation system and email.
  • Confirm reservation details, including Member names and Member numbers, while communicating Club policies as needed.
  • Create and maintain seating charts, assign server sections fairly, and optimize table assignments based on Member preferences and operational needs.
  • Welcome Members and guests with a warm, professional greeting and escort them to their tables.
  • Ensure tables are clean, properly set, and ready before seating guests.
  • Present menus, share daily specials or Club events, introduce the assigned server, and accurately assign tables in the POS system.
  • Prepare the dining room before service by monitoring cleanliness, lighting, music, table arrangements, and overall ambiance.
  • Adjust table layouts, chairs, umbrellas, and seating configurations to accommodate reservations.
  • Report maintenance or appearance concerns to the Manager on Duty.
  • Answer phone calls and assist Members with reservations, dining hours, menus, upcoming events, and to-go orders.
  • Communicate reservation updates with managers and service staff throughout each shift.
  • Document and relay Member comments, concerns, and feedback to management.
  • Monitor weather conditions for outdoor dining and assist with implementing inclement weather procedures when necessary.
Qualifications
  • At least one year of experience in a host, front desk, hospitality, or customer service role.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with a genuine passion for hospitality.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • High attention to detail and proficiency with computer systems and POS or reservation software.
  • Professional, polished, and well-groomed appearance.
  • Flexible schedule with availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
