What is a reseller?

A Reseller job involves purchasing products or services from a supplier or manufacturer and then selling them to customers at a profit. Resellers can operate in various industries, including electronics, fashion, and software. They often manage inventory, set pricing, and market products through online platforms or physical stores. Some resellers work independently, while others collaborate with a company as an authorized distributor. Success in this role requires strong sales, marketing, and customer service skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a reseller?

To thrive as a Reseller, you need strong sales acumen, market research skills, and knowledge of inventory management, often gained through experience in sales or e-commerce. Familiarity with e-commerce platforms, CRM systems, and online payment solutions is typically necessary. Exceptional negotiation, networking, and customer service skills help build lasting relationships with clients and suppliers. These capabilities enable Resellers to source competitively, manage transactions efficiently, and adapt to changing market demands for business growth.

What are the typical challenges faced by resellers, and how can they be addressed?

Resellers often encounter challenges such as fluctuating market prices, maintaining a reliable supply chain, and handling customer expectations regarding product quality and delivery times. To address these issues, effective Resellers build strong relationships with trusted suppliers, stay updated on market trends, and implement robust inventory management practices. Clear communication with clients about product details and delivery schedules also helps establish trust and minimize misunderstandings. By proactively addressing these common hurdles, Resellers can enhance their reputation, boost customer satisfaction, and grow their business.

How do you become a reseller?

To become a reseller, you typically need to choose a product or service to sell, establish a relationship with the supplier or manufacturer, and obtain the necessary authorization or reseller agreement. Resellers often require basic sales skills, knowledge of the products, and may need to meet certain sales targets or certifications depending on the industry. Setting up an online or physical sales platform is also common to reach customers effectively.

Is reselling a good career?

Reselling can be a viable career for individuals who have strong sales skills, market knowledge, and the ability to source products at low cost. Success often depends on understanding supply and demand, managing inventory, and using online platforms or marketplaces effectively. It can offer flexible hours but may require significant effort to build a profitable business.

Job description

Reseller Enablement Consultant Function summary: Enables reseller partners to confidently position, sell, scope, and transition Cornerstone solutions in ways that support realistic delivery expectations and successful customer outcomes. Short Summary The Reseller Enablement Consultant will design and deliver enablement programs that help reseller partners confidently position, sell, scope, and transition Cornerstone opportunities into successful customer implementations. This role sits at the intersection of partner sales readiness, services awareness, customer expectation setting, and post-sale handoff quality. The successful candidate will work closely with Alliances, Partner Success, Sales, Services, Product Marketing, Solution Consulting, and regional teams to ensure reseller partners have the knowledge, tools, messaging, and process understanding needed to represent Cornerstone effectively. The role will help partners connect commercial conversations to realistic delivery outcomes, reducing handoff friction and improving customer confidence.

Role Purpose

This role enables reseller partners to understand Cornerstone’s value proposition, solution positioning, sales plays, services models, implementation considerations, customer readiness factors, and transition points between sales and delivery. The consultant will ensure reseller partners are not only trained on what to sell, but also understand how their positioning and scoping decisions affect implementation success and long-term customer outcomes. In this role you will:

  • Design and deliver scalable reseller partner enablement programs for a SaaS channel ecosystem, covering solution positioning, sales readiness, services awareness, implementation considerations, and customer outcome alignment.
  • Create onboarding and continuous readiness pathways for reseller partner sales, pre-sales, partner managers, and customer-facing teams to improve partner confidence, productivity, and commercial execution.
  • Develop partner-facing resources such as sales playbooks, solution messaging guides, services overview materials, handoff checklists, qualification guides, objection handling content, and customer expectation-setting tools.
  • Enable reseller partners to understand Cornerstone’s services delivery models, implementation scope, delivery dependencies, customer responsibilities, and transition points from sale to implementation.
  • Partner with Alliances, Partner Management, Sales, Solution Consulting, Services, Product Marketing, and regional teams to align reseller enablement with SaaS go-to-market priorities, partner program requirements, and revenue growth objectives.
  • Support reseller partners in positioning implementation services, adoption support, and customer success considerations as part of the overall customer value conversation.
  • Identify enablement opportunities that improve partner-sourced pipeline quality, win rates, sales cycle efficiency, services attach, implementation readiness, and overall revenue contribution.
  • Collect reseller feedback, identify common knowledge gaps, and recommend improvements to partner content, processes, and readiness programs.
  • Define, track, and report on enablement impact using participation, completion, feedback, readiness progress, partner adoption, commercial influence, and revenue-related outcome measures.
  • Support product release readiness, campaign enablement, partner launch activities, and region-specific reseller enablement needs across the channel network.
  • Promote consistent, compliant, and customer-centric messaging across reseller partner channels.
You’ve got what it takes if you:
  • Experience in partner enablement, sales enablement, channel sales, solution consulting, product marketing, customer success, professional services, or enterprise SaaS sales support.
  • Strong understanding of reseller or channel partner models, partner onboarding, sales readiness, and indirect go-to-market motions.
  • Ability to translate product, services, and implementation concepts into practical partner-facing sales and readiness content.
  • Confident facilitator with experience delivering virtual and in-person enablement to commercial and customer-facing audiences.
  • Strong collaboration skills across Alliances, Sales, Partner Management, Product Marketing, Solution Consulting, Services, and Operations.
  • Ability to balance commercial enablement with realistic services positioning and customer outcome expectations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create clear, polished, and engaging partner content.
  • Experience in HR technology, learning technology, enterprise SaaS, workforce transformation, or talent management is desirable.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and collaboration tools.
  • Availability to support partners and teams across multiple time zones.
