Position Summary

TheDivision of Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and Preventive Medicine, within thedepartment of Internal Medicine, is seeking an HS Research Tech I for the HOMESproject. This project is being funded by the State of New Mexico in cooperationwith the Department of Workforce Solutions. This position will meet with theunhoused in the community to survey individuals and help ascertain the needsand conditions of unhoused populations.
ThisNew Mexico based study engages a partnership network that spans academicinstitutions, community health services, and government bodies. The study aimsto provide actionable data to inform targeted interventions by community andpublic health groups, clinical organizations, and academicinstitutions. This position will serve a key role by meeting with communitymembers one on one to collect data.
TheDepartment of Internal Medicine is a large, progressive department with adiverse staff working in dedicated teams to provide quality work in anorganized, effective, and efficient manner through innovation, training, andeducation. Through our collaborative work effort, we support the faculty andenhance the missions of the department, school, Health Sciences Center, andUniversity.

Conditions of Employment
- For individual positions in which driving is a job requirement, a valid NM driver's license and valid UNM driver's permit will be required.
- Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
- Annual TB testing may be required if working in a patient care area.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of directly related student practicum or equivalent experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience engaging with patients in a hospital, clinic setting, or out on the street
- Experience collecting data
- Experience working with vulnerable populations
- Proficiency using computers or tablets
