Research Medical Assistant Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and friendly Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. Your positive attitude and willingness to help will be a vital part of providing exceptional care to our patients.
Clinical Duties (may include, but are not limited to):
- Obtaining and documenting patient medical history
- Clearly explaining treatment procedures to patients in a compassionate manner
- Preparing patients for examinations and ensuring their comfort
- Assisting the physician during examinations and procedures
- Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens with attention to detail
- Performing basic laboratory tests efficiently
- Providing patient instructions on medication use and special diets with empathy and clarity
- Preparing and administering medications, including intramuscular, intradermal, and subcutaneous injections (including vaccinations/immunizations) as directed by a licensed provider (e.g., a physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant)
- Handling prescription refills as directed by the physician
- Performing phlebotomy with care and professionalism
- Taking electrocardiograms and ensuring accurate results
- Maintaining cleanliness, organization, and stock levels in clinic exam rooms and common areas
Administrative Duties (may include, but are not limited to):
- Proficiently using computer applications to manage patient information
- Answering telephones with a warm, welcoming tone
- Greeting and welcoming patients, ensuring a positive first impression
- Updating and filing patient medical records accurately
- Coding and completing insurance forms meticulously
- Scheduling appointments efficiently and accommodating patients' needs
- Handling correspondence, billing, and bookkeeping tasks with attention to detail
Clinical Research Duties (may include, but are not limited to):
- Assisting the Principal Investigator and study team with assigned study tasks in a supportive and organized manner
**Schedule:**
- 8-hour shift
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Occasional weekend availability
