Job Summary
The labs of Priti Shah and John Jonides , in the Department of Psychology, are seeking a part-time Lab Manager to support research operations in the Basic and Applied Cognition Lab and the Jonides Lab. The Lab Manager will coordinate day-to-day activities across multiple research projects, including participant recruitment and scheduling, data organization, IRB support, undergraduate research assistant coordination, lab meeting logistics, and preparation of research-related materials for grants, reports, and presentations.
This position will serve as a central point of contact for lab operations and will work closely with faculty, graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, staff, and undergraduate research assistants. The successful candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, comfortable managing multiple priorities, and interested in supporting research in cognitive psychology and cognitive neuroscience.
Responsibilities*
Research Project Coordination and Study Operations
  • Coordinate day-to-day operations for ongoing research studies in the BAAC and Jonides Labs.
  • Organize research documentation, coordinate with investigators and research staff, and help ensure that studies are conducted according to lab procedures and approved protocols.
  • Assist with preparation and maintenance of IRB-related materials, including amendments, renewals, consent documents, and protocol updates, as needed.

Lab Administration, Meetings, and Communication
  • Coordinate administrative operations for the labs, including scheduling and running lab meetings, preparing agendas, taking notes, tracking action items, maintaining shared calendars and lab resources, ordering supplies, updating lab manuals, and facilitating communication among faculty, students, staff, and collaborators.

Research Project Implementation, Data Organization
  • Assist with running research projects, including preparing study materials, coordinating data collection workflows, monitoring project progress, and analyzing data.
  • Organize and maintain study documentation, and project records..
  • Prepare data summaries, figures, tables, progress updates, and other materials for grant submissions, progress reports, presentations, manuscripts, and internal lab use.
  • Support routine data quality checks and maintain clear documentation of lab procedures and datasets.

Participant Recruitment, Scheduling, and Study Support
  • Assist with participant recruitment and compensation processes, and support data collection for survey, behavioral, eye-tracking, and/or neuroimaging-based studies both online and in-person .

Undergraduate Research Assistant Coordination
  • Coordinate 15-20 undergraduate research assistant onboarding, training, schedules, task assignments, research credit paperwork, and payment processes as appropriate.
  • Track RA participation, communicate expectations, and serve as a point of contact for student research assistants

Required Qualifications*
  • High school diploma or Associate's degree and 1 to 2 years experience.
  • Prior experience working in a research setting, such as a psychology, neuroscience, cognitive science, or behavioral research lab.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities both independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience using standard office and data management tools, including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Excel, or similar software.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and following human subjects research procedures.

Desired Qualifications*
  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology or a related field
  • 1 to 2 years experience is preferred. (ex: coordinating human subjects research, including participant recruitment, scheduling, data collection, and IRB documentation.)
  • Familiarity with behavioral research software, data analysis tools, or programming languages such as Qualtrics, PsychoPy, R, or Python.
  • Prior experience training or coordinating undergraduate research assistants.

Modes of Work

Additional Information
The salary range is $16,500 to $19,500. Please note a higher salary may be offered based on equity and the selected candidate's experience.
This is a 12-month term-limited position with the possibility of renewal. The anticipated start date is September 1, 2026.
