About the Role:

We are in search of a Business Development Manager to take a lead role in managing business development activity for Lake Shore Cryotronics products in the Western U.S. territory. This individual will formulate sales objectives, policies, and other pertinent programs to promote and maximize sales. We are a global leader supporting advanced scientific research in measurement and control solutions that drive the discovery and development of new materials for tomorrow’s technologies.


Key Responsibilities:


1. Customer Engagement & Business Growth

  • A. Lead customer engagement for new or existing business growth focused on capital equipment and/or OEM sales.
  • B. Initiate contact with potential and current customers to generate and qualify leads, promote products and services, and propose solutions that meet customer needs.
  • C. Contribute to the development of growth strategies and support all business development efforts.
  • D. Identify and qualify opportunities aligned with growth strategies and drive them to closure.
  • E. Develop bid win strategies for new business.
  • F. Provide strategic oversight and ownership of proposal development activities.
  • G. Hold team accountable to proposal response schedules.
  • H. Coordinate customer communications and proposal responses.
  • I. Travel regularly to visit with customers to support their activities and maximize sales.
  • J. Coordinate and lead business reviews and host customer/prospect visits as needed.
  • K. Collaborate across departments to develop and pursue joint new business opportunities.
  • L. Effectively control, protect and efficiently use company resources as decisions directly affect the production of income and the control of costs.

2. Capture Management

  • A. Lead proposal/no-proposal reviews and capture strategy development.
  • B. Align capture efforts with internal and external decision-makers.
  • C. Manage customer communications throughout the capture process.

3. Relationship Development

  • A. Build and maintain strong, positive relationships with customers, prospects, and partners.
  • B. Understand customer/prospect organization, structure, culture, and key decision-makers.
  • C. Navigate and influence the decision-making process.

4. Market Intelligence & Opportunity Tracking

  • A. Monitor market trends and competitor activities.
  • B. Assess Lake Shore’s competitive position regularly.
  • C. Manage sales pursuits in CRM from opportunity identification through customer decision.
  • D. Maintain accurate tracking and status updates.

5. Product & Value Communication

  • A. Develop and deliver customer presentations that convey product breadth, capabilities, and value proposition.
  • B. Demonstrate a strong understanding of the company's key differentiators.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree (Engineering or Physics preferred)
