Project Overview:
Bechtel's Americas Public Infrastructure business is pursuing focused growth across the United States and the adjacent Latin American (LATAM) markets. Based in Reston, Virginia, this role supports business development across Bechtel's Americas infrastructure portfolio, with a primary focus on U.S. opportunities and the flexibility to support growing Latin American pursuits.
Job Summary:
In this position, you will play a key role on Bechtel's Americas Public Infrastructure Business Development team. You will build and maintain personal relationships with key contacts, customer organizations, strategic vendors, and partners. You will develop prospect and pursuit strategies and demonstrate how Bechtel can help customers achieve their objectives. While your primary focus will be U.S. and Americas business development, you will also flex to support Bechtel's emerging Latin American pursuits, contributing research, customer analysis, and proposal support across the region. Your work will expand market reach and drive growth and success for Bechtel. As you develop, you will have the opportunity to lead your own prospects-with coaching and support-from early positioning through to successful award. #LI-JL1
Major Responsibilities:
  • Prepares and monitors market profiles, customer profiles, and business development activity reports
  • Support market assessments and competitive analyses to identify opportunities for private capital participation in infrastructure projects
  • Performs research on customers and competition across U.S. and, as needed, Latin American markets, and presents findings to business development colleagues and business line general management
  • Maintains records of prospective projects and competitor information, tracks key milestones, and contributes to internal reporting resources
  • Supports engagement with new prospects and customers
  • Provides support to Latin American (LATAM) business development pursuits, as needed, including market research, customer and stakeholder mapping, and proposal content
  • Supports the evaluation of partnership and collaborative / progressive contracting opportunities across the Americas
  • Assist in preparing presentations, briefing materials, and analyses for clients and internal stakeholders
  • Develops marketing information for use by the business development team
  • Participates in proposal development efforts, including producing and assembling content, due diligence, teaming arrangements, and internal governance
  • Owns and develops selected customer relationships as part of the account "zippering" plan, working alongside business line leadership
  • Leads the drafting of internal governance and pursuit-approval documents
  • Manages and tracks business development budgets, including monitoring spend against plan and supporting forecasting
  • Stays abreast of industry trends and relationships that can impact Bechtel's business development performance

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience, or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Demonstrated business development, market research, and proposal experience in infrastructure or a related sector
  • Ability and willingness to support across U.S. and Latin American business development pursuits
  • Willingness to travel to meet customers and partners as the business requires
  • Able to engage both public and private sector clients, with guidance and training provided
  • Spanish language ability is a plus
  • Career-level position within field; considered skilled and proficient in the discipline
  • Professional with an understanding of the area of specialization; resolves a wide range of issues
  • Strong relationship-building, research, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Based in or able to work from Reston, Virginia; eligible to work in the United States
