Role Description: Huitt-Zollars, Inc. is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer - Senior Project Manager with 10+ years of experience located in Seattle, Washington. This Senior Project Manager position should have experience in the management and design of transportation projects and be a Registered Professional Engineer in the state of Washington. This full-time role includes marketing, business development, client management, and project management for transportation agencies and public works clients. Duties include but are not limited to, initial project and code research, civil engineering design, plan and specification production, management of junior engineers and production staff, client and stakeholder coordination, construction administration and project close out, business development, and project pursuit efforts. This Project Manager should have experience working on transportation projects for transit agency clients such as Sound Transit, King County Metro, or Pierce Transit.

Duties:  

  • Serve as Senior Project Manager for multi-disciplinary design projects in the transportation sectors. Understand and communicate project needs to deliver high-level expert advice and provide oversight for planning, design, and construction.
  • Provide feedback, mentorship, and direction to other project managers and design staff with varying skills and experience. 
  • Prepare progress reports, risk analyses, cashflow projections, and coordinate with design teams to deliver high-quality services and deliverables.
  • Lead and direct technical staff within the company as well as subconsultants to deliver projects on schedule and on budget.
  • Market target clients and lead proposal preparation including oral presentations and scope, schedule, and budgets with work breakdown structure.
  • Participate in Office Leadership activities and monitoring including assisting with Workload Projections, Annual Business Plan, Growth Strategies, Recruiting, and Staff Development.
  • Prepare proposal/contract documents, project work plans, quality plans, risk plans, and project schedules.
  • Function as a Lead Civil Engineer.
  • Lead the preparation of design and construction drawings using AutoCAD and information obtained from research activities.
  • Coordinate client management and marketing efforts for future work.
  • Work directly with clients for project coordination and execution.
  • Lead a team of engineers/designers with varied levels of experience/expertise and appropriately allocate resources to execute project tasks. 
  • Write or prepare graphic materials for presentations or documents.
  • Track and update project performance metrics.
  • Assist with preparation of invoicing documentation and manage ARs.

Qualifications:  

  • BS Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Must be a licensed PE in Washington State. 
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience.
  • Experience with producing accurate and complete construction plans, specifications, and reports.
  • Ability to work independently in a team environment and to manage multiple projects with limited supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, communicating engineering information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to train/mentor staff and review work for quality assurance.
  • Solid leadership and management skills, self-motivated, and possess a strong ability to meet deadlines, satisfy clients, and solve complex problems.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil3D. Proficiency with MicroStation is a plus. 
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Willingness/ability to assume increased responsibilities when presented.
  • Consistently deliver proactive communication with clients. When client issues arise, address, or expeditiously escalate to discipline lead.
  • Develop relationships with clients that allows for ease in communications and problem solving.
  • Troubleshoot issues and recommend solutions, effectively implement and document for internal and external stakeholders.

Senior Project Manager (SPM) Role Annual Performance Goals & Expectations:

  • Having a deep understanding of how your work and contributions as a co-owner add to Huitt-Zollars' mission and core values.
  • Maintaining expected Effective Labor Multiplier (ELM) on sum of all associated projects. 
  • Consistently upholds business processes including timely monthly A/R's, invoicing, timekeeping, resource forecasting, percent completes, etc. 
  • Achieves personal sales goal. 
  • Achieves stated target personal utilization goal for SPM. 
  • Understands, follows and ensures quality control measures and risk management measures are being applied and adhered to projects and daily operations.

Physical Requirements:

Annual Base Salary Range: $172,000-$190,000 and up depending on experience and qualifications of the selected candidate(s). The expected salary range for this position is displayed in accordance with the Washington Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. The final agreed upon compensation is based on the success candidate's individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and consideration to participate in our discretionary annual bonus incentive program.
