Job description

Position Overview

Our organization is in search of an Assistant Program Director who will also take on the role of Director of Osteopathic Education for the Decatur Family Medicine Residency Program. This combined faculty and leadership position integrates teaching, clinical practice, and administrative responsibilities to enhance the program's osteopathic recognition and promote excellence in resident education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and instruct resident physicians and medical students in both outpatient and inpatient environments.
  • Facilitate teaching rounds and educational sessions to improve residency training.
  • Deliver direct patient care through an active patient panel and participate in inpatient call duties.
  • Engage in school, residency, and community committees.
  • Manage osteopathic curricular activities, including OMT clinics, journal clubs, and workshops.
  • Ensure maintenance of osteopathic recognition status and adherence to ACGME and AOA standards.
  • Monitor and provide guidance on DO scholarly activities while ensuring accurate documentation for residents.
  • Conduct biannual meetings with osteopathic residents and annual meetings with faculty members.
  • Encourage and support research initiatives for residents and students.
Qualifications
  • Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of an accredited Family Medicine Residency Program.
  • Board Certification in Family Medicine.
  • Possession of an Illinois medical license (or eligibility) at the time of hire.
  • Dedication to inpatient medicine and osteopathic education.
  • Awareness of the needs of underrepresented and underserved populations.
