Job description

About the Role:
Baird's Equity Asset Management Growth team currently manages over $1 billion in two long-only, institutional strategies: Mid cap growth and Small/Mid cap growth. The team's five portfolio managers and two research analysts focus on investing in high-quality, profitable growth companies over a long-term investment time horizon. Interns will be expected to be active participants in a variety of research projects and discussions throughout the summer. They will also have the ability to gain knowledge of the equity asset management industry (the "buyside") via regular interactions with research analysts and portfolio managers, including attending research meetings to discuss portfolio holdings and construction. This internship requires working full time during the summer, 37.5-40 hours per week, Monday-Friday in our downtown Milwaukee, WI office. We are seeking a student who can start in June 2027.
The Impact You'll Make:
  • Shadow and participate in various research projects as directed by both analysts and portfolio managers
  • Research specific stocks and industries based on current portfolio needs
  • Use either FactSet or Bloomberg data and information to supplement or create company and portfolio analysis
  • Present investment findings to the investment team and discuss the thesis on an idea, potentially completing a full write-up of a stock pitch utilizing the team's PRIME process
  • Prepare and potentially participate in company and analyst meetings and conference calls
  • Bring energy to the team and actively contribute to our culture of continuous improvement
What You'll Bring to Baird:
  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business or another quantitative discipline, applied investment programs preferred
  • Anticipated graduation date of May 2028 and minimum GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Curiosity and interest in researching and understanding businesses, along with a general appreciation for the stock market and investing
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written; A high level of professionalism is mandatory
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision, yet willingness to take direction; Detail-oriented individual with ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Knowledge of FactSet or Bloomberg is a plus
