JOB TITLE: 

ARCC Student Research Aide

JOB PURPOSE: 

ARCC Student Research Assistants will assist The Advanced Research Computing Center (ARCC) as general assistants to contribute to ARCC's mission of providing computational research support. More specifically, this work may include assisting ARCC with user support, coding/scripting, technical research, or systems administration projects and tasks as requested by ARCC Staff or university researchers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The Advanced Research Computing Center (ARCC) is seeking, motivated students looking to gain hands-on experience in supporting computational research. In this position, students will work directly with ARCC staff on a variety of projects and tasks in support of meeting ARCC team goals. 

  • Support the ARCC team as assigned 
  • Supervised work in accomplishing ARCC team goals 
  • Perform other office related tasks and duties as assigned 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Currently enrolled in a University of Wyoming degree program 
  • Must be in-person on campus 
  • Ability to sign a confidentiality agreement 
  • Ability to work well in a team environment 
  • Ability to follow detailed processes and verbal instruction 
  • Flexibility to perform various types of work as assigned 
  • Strong ability to learn new technological concepts  

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Knowledge of High-Performance Computing (HPC) 
  • Excellent computer skills, including competency in Linux command line and at least one scripting language such as Python, R, Bash, etc. 
  • Strong technical writing skills 
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
