Job Overview:
Under supervision, the Used Buyer negotiates the purchase of merchandise from private sellers. This includes evaluating equipment, determining its value, awareness of B&H's need for the equipment, and finalizing the transaction for merchandise. In addition, the Used Buyer is responsible for assigning a resale grade to purchased products.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and purchase used equipment for best possible price
  • Determine condition of equipment and grade to merchandise
  • Sets resale price accounting for resale profit, current inventory, cost of repair, and consumer trends
  • Monitors aging stock levels and adjusts prices when needed
  • Limits overstock on items that may be difficult to resell

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Sign customer checks for sold merchandise, as needed
  • As assigned by Director

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong knowledge of new and used equipment relevant to B&H
  • Strong knowledge of previous, current and future used equipment trends (internal and external)
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of B&H policies and procedures
  • Strong customer service and organizational skills
  • Good computer skills

Preferred Education, Experience and Licenses:
  • Minimum 3+ years experience operating and evaluating photo equipment
