A DAY IN THE LIFE AS REPORT WRITER

The Report Writer works closely with marketing, IT, and business units as needed to design, develop, and maintain company reports. The position coordinates with internal business partners to determine business needs and uses data to advise on business decisions. The position demands expert knowledge in database systems, query languages, reporting and visualization tools. This position is the in-house expert for the data warehouse and Core System's query functions and reporting features.

JOB DUTIES

  • Actively seeks opportunities within Cyprus to create value for the organization through data analysis and visualization.
  • Approaches each value-generating opportunity with quality as a top priority. Requests information where applicable to ensure a comprehensive solution is the goal.
  • Designs meaningful reporting solutions in accordance with both business needs and company branding standards.
  • Creates all reports in a timely and efficient manner, communicating updates to all parties involved on a frequent basis.
  • Maintains, updates, and archives existing reports as needed.
  • Documents the report creation process through code commenting, checklist institution and completion, and general continuity-based document production.
  • Manages the report lifecycle with security in mind. Addresses security concerns with the Cyber Security team.
  • Completes all checklists, records, and reports related to job duties.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, attending conferences, and participating in professional organizations.
  • Protects organization's value by actively keeping information confidential.
  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; explores opportunities that add value to the department and to Cyprus.
  • Takes complete ownership of all facets related to assigned duties

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

College degree or any combination of education, training and experience equivalent. Such education should be at a level which demonstrates the ability to perform duties comparable to those listed herein. Possession of the college degree is preferred.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Possesses one to two years of experience in report writing functions.

KNOWLEDGE OF

Areas that would be helpful include SQL, database management, data warehouse management, data visualization (PowerBI or Tableau), Visual Basic for Applications, and Excel.

Accustomed to using query languages, including various flavors of SQL. This includes the ability to analyze, dissect, modify, and/or rebuild complex queries written by others. This also includes deep familiarity with reducing unnecessarily complex queries, such as those that include many joins and subqueries, so that they are written with efficiency in mind. Experience with additional programming and query languages-such as Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) and/or DAX-is a plus.

SKILL AND ABILITY TO

Assist in planning, designing, and maintaining reporting methodologies; provide technical support to users; administer day-to-day operation of reporting components; implement report maintenance procedures; communicate effectively in both oral and written form; explain technical concepts in non-technical terms to clients and staff; read, interpret and apply technical instructions; keep current by reading, interpreting, and applying information on technological changes and updates; prepare clear and concise written communications; research technical manuals and guides to respond to user questions; prioritize requests, organize, schedule, and coordinate a variety of activities and projects; ability to learn new software and hardware packages; adapt to changes in technology; work independently and as a team member; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with all those contacted during the course of work.

Strong ability to do research and make well-supported recommendations Strong communication is a must. Possesses a valid Utah driver's license; has the ability and willingness to travel for work assignments; willing to work additional hours during the week and/or weekend if necessary.
