GEOTECHNICAL PROJECT ENGINEER
Location: San Antonio, TX or Eden Prairie, MN | Hybrid
Schedule: Full-Time
Salary: $98,000 - $115,000 (based on experience)
Join EVS and help deliver innovative geotechnical solutions that support some of the nation's most impactful renewable energy and infrastructure projects. As a Geotechnical Project Engineer, you'll manage projects from investigation through construction, collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, and provide technical expertise on utility-scale solar, BESS, substations, and other complex civil infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys balancing technical analysis, client interaction, and project management while contributing to a collaborative, growth-focused team.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Manage multiple geotechnical engineering projects from proposal through completion, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and work plans while coordinating field investigations, drilling subcontractors, laboratory testing, and internal project teams.
  • Plan and oversee subsurface investigations, reviewing boring logs, laboratory testing results, geophysical data, and site conditions to develop engineering recommendations.
  • Perform geotechnical engineering analyses including shallow and deep foundation design, driven pile axial and lateral capacity, settlement analyses, liquefaction evaluations, seismic site classification, groundwater assessments, and earthwork recommendations.
  • Develop geotechnical design recommendations for renewable energy projects including utility-scale solar facilities, battery energy storage systems (BESS), substations, transmission structures, access roads, inverter pads, and tracker foundations.
  • Prepare and review Geotechnical Engineering Reports, Geotechnical Data Reports, foundation recommendations, design memoranda, and earthwork specifications.
  • Provide construction support by responding to RFIs, evaluating unexpected subsurface conditions, reviewing pile installation issues and load testing results, and collaborating with contractors to resolve field challenges.
  • Communicate project status, technical findings, and recommendations with clients, project managers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Participate in client meetings, proposal preparation, and business development efforts while building long-term relationships with renewable energy developers, EPC contractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with civil, structural, electrical, and survey teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 3+ years of geotechnical engineering experience with increasing responsibility in project execution and technical analysis.
  • Experience managing multiple engineering projects simultaneously.
  • Strong understanding of soil mechanics, foundation engineering, earthwork design, and geotechnical engineering principles.
  • Experience preparing technical reports, engineering calculations, and design recommendations.
  • Experience with renewable energy, utility, transportation, commercial, or infrastructure projects is preferred.
  • Knowledge of driven pile design, seismic site classification, liquefaction analysis, and foundation engineering is preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within one year preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and common geotechnical engineering software.
  • Strong technical writing, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams and with clients.
  • Ability to travel to project sites as needed and work outdoors during field investigations.
