DEPARTMENT:
Sales
REPORTS TO:
Sales Manager
STATUS:
Non-Exempt
LOCATION:
Houston, TX 77086
Position Overview
This is not a traditional inside sales position.
We are not looking for someone whose primary strength is processing orders, routing emails, or following established procedures. We are looking for a salesperson.
The right person is naturally curious about customers, comfortable on the phone, and motivated to uncover opportunities that others miss.
You will support and develop a sales territory alongside an outside Regional Sales Manager. While the Regional Sales Manager builds relationships in the field, you will build relationships from inside the organization through phone calls, email, CRM intelligence, quote follow-up, and daily customer engagement.
Success in this role comes from understanding customers, identifying opportunities, and helping customers move quickly toward a solution.
Who You Are
You are naturally curious.
You ask questions most people do not think to ask. When a customer requests a pressure gauge, you want to understand what is behind the request.
What is it being used for?
Is this a replacement or a new application?
Is this part of a larger project?
Who else is involved?
What other instrumentation exists at the facility?
You enjoy uncovering the story behind the request.
You think commercially.
You naturally evaluate opportunities. You understand that not all opportunities are equal, and you can quickly assess account potential, urgency, competitive position, relationship value, and growth opportunities.
You do not just solve today's problem. You think about where the next opportunity may come from.
You enjoy talking to people.
You do not hide behind email. You are comfortable picking up the phone, meeting new people, and building trust through conversation. Many of our best opportunities come from direct conversations, not transactions.
You advocate for customers.
You are not driven by bureaucracy. You are driven by outcomes.
You know how to balance customer needs with business realities, and you take ownership of helping customers find the best path forward.
You are resourceful.
You do not need to have every answer immediately. You are comfortable learning, asking smart questions, using internal resources, and solving problems as you go.
You are comfortable with technology.
You can work inside CRM systems, configurators, automation tools, AI tools, and business software. You do not need to be an expert on day one, but new technology should not intimidate you.
