Job description

Purpose, Scope, Organization
The Senior Buyer will be involved with the procurement of materials and activities related to fulfillment of sales orders and manufacturing requirements. Additionally, this position will support and drive supplier development, supply chain consistency and breadth, and lower cost inventory. This position reports to the Director of Operations.
Responsibilities
The Senior Buyer responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Track current inventory levels and ensure proper inventory levels are set based on demand, forecasts, and vendor input.
2. Develop and maintain an accurate safety stock or minimum reorder point.
3. Use advanced features within various programs (Excel, SharePoint, etc) to analyze data and recommend business decisions that will improve inventory positions and vendor selection.
4. Be able to process return material authorizations, defective material responses, shipping request forms, or other documentation to ensure material is correctly processed, received, or returned as required.
5. Develop a supplier base that reduces risk on items sole/single sourced.
6. Identify new suppliers, support qualifications of new suppliers, negotiate contract pricing.
7. Site visits to suppliers to maintain supplier relations, negotiate pricing, business relationship overview (supplier performance).
8. Maintain a vendor scorecard based on various data points (on-time delivery, quality metrics, pricing).
9. Develop and maintain purchase price variance metrics. Analyze, report, and drive improved PPV.
10. Develop expertise in vendor product and identify competitive advantages between competing sources of material.
11. Any other duties assigned by supervision.

This position is a senior buyer position and requires a high degree of business acumen, vendor engagement, and a focus on reductions in cost of inventory while maintaining a high degree of customer satisfaction. This role will interface with vendors frequently, developing the business relationship while focused on lower costs and improved lead times. The buyer will engaged with prospective suppliers, reducing risk with sole sourced product and improving our vendor portfolio.
Education / Technical: Bachelor's degree required. In lieu of education,11+ experience in a similar role is acceptable.
