Job description

Sugar Bowl Resort is seeking a motivated, guest-focused Rentals Supervisor to lead the daily operations of our Rental Shop. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, loves mentoring a team, and takes pride in creating memorable experiences for every guest who walks through the door. You'll balance hands-on leadership with a sharp eye for efficiency, ensuring the shop runs smoothly and guests leave with the right gear and a great first impression of Sugar Bowl.

Why Sugar Bowl?

Sugar Bowl Resort has been proudly independent for over 80 years and is one of the oldest ski resorts in California. Situated atop beautiful Donner Summit, Sugar Bowl has a storied past with ties to Austrian ski culture, Hollywood and Walt Disney. This special community helped bring skiing to "sunny California" since December 1939. Since then, it continues to attract adventurous winter sports enthusiasts alike.

Who You Are:

You've got at least one season of rental shop experience

Familiar with RTP POS and Tech modules (or similar rental systems)

Bring excellent organizational and communication skills to everything you do

Lead with strong interpersonal skills and a proactive, hands-on style

Handle guest concerns with professionalism, patience, and care

Detail-oriented, with a genuine commitment to safety and cleanliness

You have supervisory or lead experience - bonus points if you love mentoring others

What You'll do:

Oversee daily rental shop operations, creating a smooth and welcoming experience for every guest

Supervise, train, and support your team to help them grow and perform at their best

Address guest questions and concerns with timely, thoughtful resolutions - including escalated issues

Manage staff timekeeping and scheduling in line with company policy

Keep the shop clean, organized, and running like a well-oiled machine, with equipment in top working condition

Track and maintain rental inventory to meet guest demand and industry standards

Keep rental ski bindings properly calibrated

Help oversee and coordinate equipment repairs

Champion a culture of safety, making sure the whole team follows company policies and procedures

Partner with Hotel and Village Services teams to coordinate rentals for homeowners and hotel guests

Work closely with Group Sales to anticipate and prepare for group rentals and special events

Work closely with Guest Services and Tuning and Repair shop

Stay current on company practices, departmental protocols, and applicable labor laws

Take initiative and operate independently in the Rental Manager's absence

Support strong communication across departments to help deliver a seamless guest experience

Pitch in with occasional snow removal and other physical tasks as needed

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand, bend, and move around the workshop for extended periods, up to 8 hours per shift

Capable of regularly lifting and carrying equipment up to 50 lbs

Ability to safely operate power tools and tuning machinery

Comfortable working outdoors in cold, winter weather conditions for extended periods

Manual dexterity for precise equipment repair and tuning work

Able to walk and stand safely on varied terrain, including snow and ice

Willing and able to shovel snow as needed
