WHEAP Intake Specialist Job Compensation:

  • $18.22 to $22.78/per hourย 

WHEAP Intake Specialist Job Responsibilities:ย 

  • Provide efficient, interactive intake services forย WHEAPย by phone, face-to-faceย or by mail toย determineย program eligibility.ย 
  • Enter program applications into the WHEAP electronic data systemย timelyย and accurately.ย 
  • Answer phones, schedule appointments, and provide program information to applicants.ย 
  • Provide quick, proactive response to client requests forย assistance, adhering to required response times.ย 
  • Will coordinate and perform administrative activities and support by storing, retrieving, and integrating information for dissemination to staff and clients,ย answerย and relay calls and messages, with follow-up to recipients in a professional manner.ย 
  • Communicate with vendorsย regardingย the repair and emergency fuel fills.ย 
  • Verify earned and unearned income, including wages, child support, TANF, Social Security, Unemployment Insurance, etc.ย 
  • Conduct community outreach and provide mobile intake services to community agencies, senior centers, housing/neighborhood centers, etc.ย 
  • Maintain and secure client information, ensuring confidentiality whether in the office or outย inย the community.ย 
  • Conduct home visits as necessary for the elderly, handicapped and disabled.ย 
  • Respond to applicant questions,ย assistย with verification, and carry out benefit processingย in a timely manner.ย 
  • Make referrals to the Weatherization program for WHEAP participants.ย ย 
  • Work as part of a team to ensure the energyย assistanceย program runs efficiently.ย 
  • Participate in program awareness events held throughout the community.ย

                                                          WHEAP Intake Specialist Job Qualifications:ย 

                                                          • Associate degree or at least two years of experienceย doing similar work within another Social Service field, orย withinย the WHEAP programs.ย ย 
                                                          • Two years' experience in case management or any equivalent combination of training and experienceย inย the social services field.ย ย 
                                                          • Ability to work independently within established policies, procedures, and guidelines.ย ย 
                                                          • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.ย ย 
                                                          • Able to work flexible and irregular hours including on call evening hours.ย ย 
                                                          • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suiteย including Word, Excel,ย Outlookย and Teams.ย ย 
                                                          • Bilingual in English and Spanishย (Hmong,ย Rohingya, Burmese or Arabic)ย in verbal and written formย PREFERRED.ย ย 
                                                          • Must haveย reliable transportation, a valid Wisconsin Driver Licenseย and adequateย vehicleย insurance and be able to travelย within the state of Wisconsin.ย ย
